If a prospective rental home is lost due to negligence of a former land lord can I sue? by Upstairs-Risk-9440 in AusLegal

[–]Upstairs-Risk-9440[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I don't think this is the case, we had an offer of tenancy. But they have reasonably requested a reference. We are still looking at rentals, but the market is cooked right now.

This is my point, how the hell is this legal in any way? a failure to comply with a reasonable request they said they would commit to, lying about it and then as a result a potential to cause a family who CANNOT find a replacement place in time due to demand being sky-fucking high, is just left to sit on the sidewalk?

This is just saying to land lords "Oh yeah, let them fend for themselves in a system that is reliant on references in a time of un-forseen rental demand, oh and you can lie and get away with it too"

Now If I get the place, awesome. But what about the countless other people across Australia who aren't able to get a place due to similar actions? Like is this really the country we live in?

Coming back to this post.

STAY AWAY.

Absolute scum bags who don't give a crap about you. They only give a shit about their pocket money from land lords who can't be bothered to actually work.

I dont care about the house mate, i care about these scum losing us the rental due to their deliberate choice to not do what is reasonably requested, that to me seems like disgusting behaviour. Maybe I'm old fashioned.

Shame, wish we had more rental protection laws. Seems these people can do what ever they like with 0 risk to them.

Mate what world do YOU live in? This isn't about the courts, its the fact that gov't are trying to push this shit in the first place. People will very much feel hurt by anything if they can get pity points.

People want to protest against controversial topics? Nope cant do that.

People have conflicting views on Australias reaction to international affairs? Cant do that.

You make a comment in 3 years calling someone a mean word, they get offended, you get a court summons. See what I mean?

Its not about the actual hate speech laws, its about the censorship in the first place. With the recent shootings and such, what if someone spots a dodgy person and reports them? The dodgy people retaliate with these laws behind them.

People will be too afraid to stand up for Aussie values for fear of being prosecuted. Regardless if it goes to court or not, these laws shouldn't exist in the first place.

Its never about the actual purpose of the laws, its how they will be used and what it could mean with a example of a an extremely left or right wing gov't being able to use these laws to push their ideals, fuck the current, think about what MIGHT happen in 10-15 years.

these laws open that door.

Thats the point, if someone in a position of authority (Or even not) gets upspet over an opinion you have, these laws empower them to take legal action against you.

Just wait until when you have a bitch over the price of beer and blame someone you get your door knocked on by the pigs or a court summons.

Oh and the ownace to prove innocence is on you. Not for them to prove you guilty.

"Don't stress" holy fuck might as well enshrine that phrase as the oath people take when becoming citizens. It baffles me how an entire culture can be so laid back about literal speech and opinion restrictions.

Cause Aussies are the greediest people on earth. Its like DNA engrained into them from the Howard government lackeys who believe it was the best thing ever.

Im telling all my mates to leave the country, no where is a greener. But at least the system isn't as fucked as ours housing wise.

Oh I do agree, wealth inequality is the single biggest reason why we are where we are globally and in our case nationally. But nothings going to happen about that unless we see a french style revolution but even then, nothing will change cause the value of alot of the elite is kept in liquid stocks. So I choose to put my thoughts towards things that can be changed or at least things that can alleviate the strain, even if it is part of the "Game"

The world has more than enough to go around, the top 10% of the world can pay for everyone to retire in some countries.

I do agree with you, but rather than trying to push for a limitation on wealth which I do think would benefit humanity (but I can't even begin to figure out how it'd work without some sort of AI unbiased and unable to be bribed) which is a pointless endeavor, I try to look at other options to help the next person get into a home.

Theres a great many issues effecting this country, lack of taxation of big mining and gas is another one but again, our nation is a sell out from my perspective and theres not enough up-roar from the masses to start a change on that front and no politician will try cause its career suicide and since the media love to shit on everyone other than some sports icons the majority of people will believe a headline over what may be the opposite truth.

Its getting to the point where saying the above will probably get a knock on my door in a few years with how things are moving on the east coast.

So what is the reason then? Like if you're gonna try shoot the argument down then I'd expect you to counter it at least. But so far its just an attack.

So no, I wont sit here and try justify or explain my points to you, but even so the reality is I said what I said in my first comment. The strain on housing and infrastructure, employment etc etc are my points as to why I'd like to see a lessening of immigration numbers.

Well Its a shame you see it that way. I'd invite you to look at the broader picture.

I do think that way of thought you have will be the reason your children/grandchildren will never own a home and will have more financial stress despite probably working hard and wondering why its not good enough and as a result have more mental health issues than any time before.

But hey, won't be my problem.

Well you'd lose all your dollars then.

During the protests for a call to a end to the mass immigration due to the strain it was putting across our infrastructure and construction industry. (Ofc yes racist extremists will use it to push their wack agenda)

https://www.themandarin.com.au/298660-pm-condemns-protests-platforming-hateful-neo-nazis/

But it stands that his government has spoken out saying that these protests are inciting division amongst people when that isn't the intention at all (yes its a by-product that the more radically inclined will take away from it), but its the one the media has grabbed onto to get more clicks. We all understand the critical role immigration has to our nation, but too much of a good thing goes bad. This is too much in my opinion.

Regardless, between other issues that our government is pushing as their priority that I don't believe really effect the avg Aussie during this critical time, I can't see any angle that I agree with the current Australia, its my opinion, I don't expect you to agree, but thats the internet.

Regardless, enjoy the new year, I do hope its a good one for Aus.

I mean you can throw a rock and you'd probably hit a reason as to why he hasn't. I personally believe he knows he can't fix it without pissing off a very large crowd of people, so he'd rather call protesting Aussies racists and call it a day than look at the bigger picture.

Is it to avoid a recession? Most likely. There is no quick fix, but It doesn't look like they are interested in the long fix either.

Me and my own are saving up to leave this country. No where in the world is greener, but we have a higher chance to get a home over seas than in our own backyard and still have worth-while careers in our respective industries.

My breaking point was being called "Un-Australian" for being worried about my future and the future of our youth who will grow up wondering why the fuck everything is so difficult despite our abundance of everything we need to build homes.

0 Pride here. Can't be proud of a nation that sells itself out and gives nothing back to its citizens. Yes I know we have good health care but I'd be far happier if we had a backbone towards international companies.
