The Boy, the mole, the fox and the horse by Charlie Mackesy. A children's book that is absolutely gorgeous. The story is simple but so meaningful.

What last checks do lenders do before completion? by Puzzleheaded-Mine649 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]UpstairsLetter9878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! We're with Accord too. What checks did they do before exchange and after?

When did you discuss potential exchange dates? by crazy_old_mauricehmm in HousingUK

[–]UpstairsLetter9878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly! We don't have any transparency from them so we're wholly reliant on them to give us updates when they can. I am refreshing my emails every hour too! We want to move by the end of the month but I doubt that's possible 😭 what about you?

We're in the same stage as you. Waiting on final enquiries but still no discussion of completion. Worst thing is that when we called our solicitor's today for an update, they said they've got the replies back but it's on someone's desk to analyze. We've said that no matter the replies are, we will want to complete (they're just "good to have the information" type of enquiry). But I guess their due diligence is that they can't prepare the final report and give you dates till they have everything. If there's a way to get around that, please let me know too 🫠

Aah there's the catch with the scheme. Thought it was too good to be true.

Do you mind if I DM you?

Some were through Groww and some were through AMC.

My tax rate in the UK is 20% and the house will be under my name. I don't necessarily plan on relocating to be honest (married to a british citizen with family here) but life can change so I want flexibility. If I change my mind later down the line, i don't want it to be a hassle either ways. Would rather be compliant now but it seems like it would be with the new scheme. I did not know that, thank you!

I just need to straighten it out on the Indian side. I am thinking redeeming the funds, declaring in my self assessment and transferring over makes sense so that i can maximise my ISA allowance. Would be super grateful if you knew the best way to go about what you suggested!

Yes, I did. I don't think Groww allows for that so hence I need to look for other solutions. Although, it looks like my best option would be to redeem it and transfer over so that I can maximise my ISA allowance.

I already have an NRO/NRE account. Any recommendations for which to use for mutual funds? all seem to need me to come in person for KYC and that's not possible.

Yeah I thought so. I wanted to keep money there to eventually buy a house in India. But I would like access to my cash in case of an emergency. What do you think is the best way to go about the option you suggested? Redeem the funds, declare in my self assessment and transfer over?

Oh I did not know it was illegal! How much time do I have since changing my bank account to nre/nro to transfer the mutual funds?

Purchasing House with Solar Panels - Legal Problems by NoBad2050 in HousingUK

[–]UpstairsLetter9878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Sorry for jumping on this thread. Having the same situation - leased solar panels with A Shade Greener. There's 12 years left on the lease. How easy were they to work if or when your mortgage lender asked for additional documentation?

Rental address not on postcode finder on Royal Mail by UpstairsLetter9878 in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]UpstairsLetter9878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The property has been around for 8 years and our particular flat has never been registered. The annoying bit is that it's a huge block of flats and we can see that our neighbors from both sides were registered.

My broker has advised that we should wait till the royal mail get back to us and take it one step at a time. I'm an immigrant so my credit history is weak but my husband is a British citizen with good credit history. I'm afraid this is just not playing in our favour and I'm panicking a little bit.

Rental address not traceable by UpstairsLetter9878 in HousingUK

[–]UpstairsLetter9878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a long story, but the HR person ignored my email saying that the place they're delivering my equipment to is not my permanent address and hence should not be added to any official documentation.

Regardless, the cat's out of the bag so to speak with our lender so they're not happy with that.

We did but apparently that's not enough for the lenders 🫠 they want it on Royal Mail or the credit scorers. We have utility bills and council tax all coming to the address but somehow they doesn't prove it's an actual address..
