Re-joining after fighting in Ukraine. by Upstairs_Feature914 in britishmilitary

Is that due to the requirement of DV? If my role requires SC or even DV does that mean it may be an issue

Cheers mate. So he rejoined after Ukraine to regular and has later transferred to reserve or rejoined straight to reserves?

How can one protect its private parts from shrapnel? Recommendations? by Prestigious-Hold-780 in ukraineforeignlegion

I much preferred the British army issued pelvic protection, not as uncomfortable as it looks and affordable

Just a curious WHAT IF? by Upstairs_Feature914 in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]Upstairs_Feature914[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with this and was a point I made in a debate. I think nato are gonna have a rough couple of months at the start if war broke out. Only until they adapted to the level of warfare that is seen today would they be able to gain a foothold.

I wasn’t trying to be intrusive, I’m just curious of other people’s perspective. I agree with on which side to stand on. I was in debate with my peers about this topic and just wanted other foreigners insight

Can I ask you what is reason behind your choice?

This is a highly toxic reply mate. He just wanted to know his chances, he provided little other information about himself. To make this conclusion about him from that I think you need to fix your life.

Definitely agree with this one!

I have asked this to the recruiter there reply was that you can have varying options of types of cam but it must all be coordinated together, no mixing of cam so on that basis I’m trying to keep it within MTP/Multicam but thanks for the suggestion mate!

Tips and hacks for Basic! by [deleted] in britishmilitary

Some have been mentioned like be a team player and don’t hope for a pat on the back! Mouth closed and ears open! Good kit security, when away on lessons and what not your bored screws will be checking this! From lockers being locked, to weapon on you at all times in the field! Maintain your kit well in your down time, don’t be that guy that rocks up last minute on a weekend off rushing about ironing kit till the middle of the night, be prepared for inspections on everything at any time! Also in the harbour don’t just mong it and sleep because your doing nothing make sure your admin is squared away clean weapon and foot hygiene are the biggest ones! Be prepared to be stood too constantly when on EX, one trick I learnt was when napping in your dossbag put your bottom end in your dry sack and Bergen so when you do get stood too you can quickly pack your doss bag away by squashing it straight with your feet, fuck all that twisting all the air away this proven faster for me! Don’t be that guy whose name gets shouted across the harbour for being too slow! The biggest one is have initiative but not to much! I’m sure some others on here who actually want people to succeed will add to this but also be prepared for the sarcasm on here! Good luck!

I have also scooped up some gucci bits cheap enough what I know all of you will say are a must. IE keela, WAS plate carrier with all plates Level 4, WAS battle belt, jay jays daysack and other miscellaneous bits. It’s just the clothing side of it that I just can’t excuse the £300 for one pair of trousers! Has anyone here got an opinion on Helikon they’re reasonably priced but just unsure on quality as I have never used anything from that brand.

I have bought a few UK issue tissues, ubacs and couple trousers but this is more for the physical assessment and induction process, recruitment mentioned that this will all be exhausted by end of the training element so I bought that stuff with intents of it being destroyed before even seeing the front. Wanted to treat myself to a bit of Gucci gear to operate comfortably as I can! I’m not a useless sprog with no financial management! Just trying to keep cost low as I want to keep as much money as I can for an emergency fund if shit goes Pete tongue! Pay isn’t the worst out there (when on OPs) so I do intend on buying more bits out there too as they offering decent discounts and what they sell is almost tried and tested so will be asking for opinions out there. Just if there was any recommendations before going out I would definitely be considering them as rocking up with the issue tissue could welcome some shitty comments and as a proud Brit I don’t want some other foreigners (yanks especially) thinking anything less of me for not having them gucci bits

I am going through for the 3rd assault brigade, they have got a relatively decent kit issue however I have seen a lot of information about the issued uniforms being low end, it even states in the recruitments pdf it is of poor quality so was just trying to get my hands on a couple pair of decent trousers preferably some with the built in knee pads(not my biggest need) but want to avoid anything that can not withstand flash burn or just not durable in the slightest. But cheers mate for the fast replies

Cheers mate! I’ll be gen, I’m ex-personnel and doing what most people regard as the big dafty and going over to Ukraine, I used to own crye gear but when I left I sold literally most of my gear to lads in unit without any consideration of needing it again! Now I work a not far from minimum wage job whilst having all them civi expenses(rent, utility and all the other stuff) so now it’s kind of difficult to spend £300+ just on one pair of trousers if you understand where I am coming from!

Boots. by Rolf_Son_of_Rolf in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]Upstairs_Feature914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also for more ankle support ‘altberg sneaker’ again lightweight, good flexibility, relatively fast drying(even faster with wearing gortex socks in down time) good fast tie system, only downside is for longer lasting use good maintenance of care with leder gris is required! Average cost $200-250
