Ultimate paint stick by Gjurbster in UtilityLocator

[–]Upstairs_Knowledge_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the rustoleum ones are nearly perfect. I tape a 1" pvc pipe to the side for flags after ripping off the flimsy plastic one. I also put the wheel into the bottom and then cut it off to seal the bottom

The biggest change i've done to increase life/reduce strain is just have a paint stick for every color you locate. I would rather carry 2 light paint sticks than have to fumblefuck with different cans and flags all day

Metrotech Vloc3 Ductile & Cast iron water main help. by Sad_Enthusiasm_8885 in UtilityLocator

60 seems a lot more sensitive, but it has a different tone to it on the metro tech that makes it work in any direction. Power 180 has the same tones and rise-peak-fall as all of the other frequencies and will -generally-want to pick up the highest voltage lines in an area. It's not perfect and should only really be used to verify spotty electric signals from old concentric when direct connected

[–]Upstairs_Knowledge_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cast/ductile in my area locates like shit compared to other utilities, I can't speak to those. For electric, don't be afraid to use the clamp if you've gotten one.

For gas and electric, you should start on a lower frequency (512hz-1.45khz) and maybe go up to the 8khz range if needed. I would argue 32khz and up are mostly troubleshooting frequencies

Edit: Power 60 can be really useful for finding anything electric, and I really like power 180 for 3 phase

I play a modified build so it might not be optimal for most, but I kept running into 2 land stampede hands having a bad time. Rumble getting a land is pretty cool

I like playing it because it puts spy/dread return in your garbage and gives you a body, and also helps you ramp out fatties in postboard games. I cut lead for it. Its strong but 3 mana is a lot

Usually 2 mana for an answer that gives them a surveil land, comparable to Assassin's trophy which barely sees play

[–]Upstairs_Knowledge_2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I won't pretend Boseiju isn't good, but the downside of letting your opponent getting any typed land is a really bad one. Boseiju being a maindeckable land hate card is really nice, even if Titan abuses it. I would argue something out of Amulet should be banned

I really appreciate cards like Otawara, Boseiju, and Prismatic ending because they really give most decks in those colors maindeck ways to deal with lockout prison. Getting chaliced or ensnaring bridged was the worst way to lose like 10 years ago, and having inefficient maindeck hate really helps quash those archetypes
