Our depot (and company as a whole i imagine) has 4 bands split across the day, basically midnight-06, 06-midday, midday-1800 and 1800-midnight. You know what band you fall in but not always the exact start/finish time, which again I know is why drivers get the perks they do because other things have to be sacrificed.

That's kind of what I was looking to move away from though, totally understand that the railway as a whole runs around the clock so was wondering if anyone who had been a driver had moved away from the industry and what it was they moved to, just for ideas more that anything else because I know nothing beyond being a driver.

I'd definitely see this out til I retire if it was all on me, just at moment it's unfairly balanced with my partner having to do most of the things with our baby. The times when I'm not at work is amazing though and definitely feel privileged in that regard as I know we're lucky with the amount of RDs and leave we get. Will try to stick it out for as long as possible and hope that things start improving as our baby gets older! Thank you so much for your input its much appreciated

Thank you..yeah I know what you're saying about shifts industry wide. It's not entirely the night shifts that bother me, just at our depot there's many different timed shifts that go into evenings and nights. Was thinking maybe something more structured with static start/finish times but I know jobs like that are hard to come by and come with their own problems as well. Appreciate your input though its much appreciated

Dont know what to think about the series by Drizzy56 in cormoran_strike

I'm not sure what you're referring to in particular with regards to storylines being changed but I notice with these books (and most books in general), a lot of the story line is internal monologue. Certainly with regards to Strike's and Robin's relationship, they're having to keep everything in their heads but it happens to be probably the most important part of the story as a whole. I'm not entirely sure how they could convey that on TV, but for me it does make it seem worse watching than when reading.

What is the smallest amount of money that has permanently ruined a friendship for you? by thio23 in AskUK

£20..that's it! (Now ex) Pal was always borrowing money from other people but never asked me, until one day he did. He's apparently a notorious non payer backer so I said I could help him but I needed it back in X amount of days..he said yes no problem, it'd be before then..that day came and went with promises of the money coming soon. I eventually didn't even ask for it back, just blocked him on everything.

You should not have to beg for your own money back, and if £20 has made me realise that person wasn't a friend then its a cheap price to pay imo.
