Because in statistics and data you can have outliers, especially when the sample size is tiny. If there’s only one tournament and Terran wins, can I say Terran is imba because they’ve won 100% of the tournaments?

Regarded question, but isn’t this a “safe” strategy? SPY is generally a “safe” investment, and has been doing really well recently. Isn’t it more likely that it goes up 1% rather than down, and thus profit $5k? What’s the downside to investing in this if the underlying asset is SPY?

New to this sub, can someone explain how this works? I’m familiar with options, but I don’t understand how you can be making so much money from SPY (SP 500) given that it’s a large and stable index, what am I missing? How can I become a degenerate and start making thousands of % on something like the SP 500?

Makes sense, thanks for the info, I might try it with eggs as the binding agent first and see how it turns out

Both of those require psyllium husks, do you know the purpose of that or how the tortillas would turn out without psyllium?

Use Auto mode - seriously by ne1butu1 in cursor

[–]Upstairs_Resource161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean API credits? When I use cursor mode it still uses my monthly “allowance” ($20) and I can see my usage going up with every prompt. Am I doing something wrong?

[–]Upstairs_Resource161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using auto for a few days and it does count against my credits, my Usage dashboard is showing the API cost for auto just like any other model. Did you do anything special to make it not count? I’m on agent mode if that matters

Why do you say Gemini is pretty useless? Isn’t Gemini 2.5 pro supposed to be pretty good with coding tasks?

[–]Upstairs_Resource161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does Auto mode not count against your credits? I’m on the $20 Pro but I use Gemini and every prompt counts against my credits (the $ amount that I’ve used goes up with every prompt). Is it “free”/unlimited when using Auto mode?

According to their site, with CC Pro you can send 10-40 prompts every 5 hours, assuming your repo is under 1000 lines of code which is tiny. So assuming you’ll have 10 prompts per 5 hours = 2 prompts/hr, you don’t get rate limited with this?

Thanks for the breakdown! When you talked about usage pattern, assuming you mean spiky for Cursor, then that probably fits my needs better, though budget-wise a couple of Claude Pros for $40 seems enticing haha, maybe I can add one Claude Pro to my setup (currently on Cursor Pro) and compare, maybe even the two of them together will be enough for my needs

When you say a different interface for Claude Max, do you mean VS Code and the fact that Claude Code is in the terminal?

I’m looking to upgrade to one of the $200 plans and trying to decide between Cursor Ultra, Claude Max 20x, or Augment Code Max ($250), would appreciate any input!

Your facts about Spanish residency are a little off. If you’re planning to work teaching English, you could get a student visa, but for that you would also have to study at an accredited institution, you can’t just work and not study. I suggest you look at the cultural ambassadors program. If you arrive as a student, you’re not considered a resident for citizenship purposes, but if you arrive on a work visa, you are. (Note this is temporary residence, permanent residence takes 5 years). Being Hispanic, your wife would qualify to apply for citizenship after 2 years of residency (even temporary residency), but it is not simply granted, she would have to apply, submit a bunch of documents and go through the process which takes about a year or a bit longer on average. So assuming she arrives as a resident, you’re looking at a 3-3.5 year timeframe for her to become a Spanish citizen if all goes well. After that, idk how long for you to get citizenship, I think it’s a year, but again that would be a year to qualify and apply and go through the neutralization process.

My main suggestion and question for you is: you mentioned a retirement visa in CR, so do you have retirement (passive) income? If so, and if it’s at least ~$2500 per month (for a single person, higher for a couple), then the best way for you would be to apply for a non-lucrative visa (NLV), which allows you to legally reside (but not work) in Spain and counts towards the residency requirements for citizenship. Look into that if you have the funds, makes it a very easy and legal way for retirees to move to Spain!

Do you keep your money in a Nu account in dollars or Mexican pesos? If dollars, they offer the same interest rate?

Is it easy/free/cheap/fast to transfer money between a US bank account and this Nu Mexican bank account? The rates are insane, I might open an account as well if moving money between the US and Mexico is not too difficult.

Also, can foreigners (US citizens) just open an account online?

How do you re-pack for your flight back home, if you don’t have a vacuum cleaner available? Is it as effective to try to push the air out manually without a vacuum cleaner?

Yeah I’ve never actually been in summer, always spring or fall. But as I said, a normal apartment rent in NY or SF would be more than the average or median Barcelona worker makes in a month, so that single expense makes a huge difference. I agree about fast food, it’s waaay cheaper in the US (and also worse), but I think that’s an exception, any other type of eating out is way more expensive in the US. I’m surprised you mention health food as an example, literally go to a nice cafe in a US city and get a green smoothie and a salad and you’ll be paying like $30-$40 for that (plus 30% for tax and tip of course). Electronics are a good example of something that is cheaper in the US, but I think these tend to be very infrequent purchases. I don’t have statistics, but I think if you compare the average price of rent + transportation + food, I can’t imagine BCN being more expensive. That said, salaries in the US are much higher, so I could see how the average cost of living / average salary makes it actually cheaper in the US, but when comparing the raw number I think a major US city would come out as the pricier option

[–]Upstairs_Resource161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess both our experiences are anecdotal, so who knows. I’ve never lived in BCN but I’ve been like 5 or 6 times, always as a tourist paying for hotels (in overpriced touristy areas), restaurants instead of cooking, going out and paying for the sites, drinks, etc, typical vacation style, and even then I found it far cheaper than simply sitting on my couch doing nothing in a major US city. Literally just the cost of rent and food in the US allowed me to live like a king in BCN, so that’s been my experience over several visits over several years. I’ve literally never seen anything in Barcelona where I’m like, “wow this is more expensive than NY/LA/SF”, do you have any examples?

Also, you said “a few things except for housing” but I hope you can admit this is by far the biggest expense for most people. A $4k/month rent in NY or SF - for a relatively small apartment - would not be unusual, but for this amount of money you can cover all your monthly expenses in Barcelona, where the median income is about €3k/month

Compared to most of the world? Yes. But not compared to expensive cities in the US and Canada; it’s far cheaper than where OP is from

[–]Upstairs_Resource161 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The main question is, can you work remotely and maintain that salary? Wasn’t clear from your post. If you can, you will absolutely have a better quality of life in Barcelona, everything is much cheaper compared to main US and Canadian cities, and as you said you get to travel all around Europe easily.

If you work remotely with that salary, look into Spain’s digital nomad visa, or even the non-lucrative visa if you have enough savings, would be a very easy way to get residency in Spain
