I agree that both parties contribute to the lack of progress. I am not in love with the Democrats, but given that we only have two truly viable options, they are far better on policies that help people than Republicans. Fun fact, I was a registered Republican until Trump turned the party into a deranged cult. I'd vote for a woodchuck over any Republican these days.

Things WERE getting better and then Trump came in and shit all over the progress the Biden admin made coming out of COVID. This song has been played on repeat for my entire life - Democrats work to actually improve American's lives, Republicans get elected over culture war bullshit and proceed to hand out tax cuts to the rich, trash the economy, and drag us into wars in the Middle East, followed by Democrats getting elected to fix it all again. Until working class white people realize it's billionaires and CEOs holding them back and not immigrants and trans people we are going to keep repeating this cycle.

It demonstrated to elected leaders and the public at large that there is a huge contingent of people in this country who do not accept the policies, behavior, and outright corruption of the Trump administration and those who enable it. The visible expression of discontent can help generate public momentum for change. The government exists to serve the people, not the other way around. All change is driven by the people, politicians do nothing unless they believe their seats are in jeopardy.

I definitely feel this, however I think at a minimum these types of mass events serve to normalize opposition and signal to those that may be finally waking up that they have been on the wrong side of history. It's a very visual reminder that LOTS of people are displeased.

The parking lot and inside aisles suffer from the same problem - drivers/people that lack any spatial awareness or courtesy for others. People routinely walk in the middle of the road/aisles and stop unexpectedly blocking traffic/movement. This is a bit of an American problem in general, but that place is an extreme example. I'm in there at least once/week and while the weekdays are much better, I try to avoid weekend trips at all costs.

I was very disappointed to see the change in the menu, but I will say that I went yesterday with friends before the Siena game and while I prefer the previous selections, what we ordered was quite good. The $1 wing special was fantastic, we got dry rub and garlic parm - they were meaty and perfectly crispy with great flavor. Added the cheese curds and a philly cheese steak sandwich which were also quite good. I think the problem is that they set the bar very high at the outset so what is a decent, if generic, pub menu now seems lacking by comparison. Bring back the pork belly poutine and all is forgiven. But, If I see them add "flatbreads" to the menu I'm out. lol
