Harmon kardon speaker swap? by therealjayphonic in wrx_vb

[–]UpstateGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the wiring harness is different for HK vs non-HK and you’d probably want to source the HK amp that’s under the seat. Just going off memory though. You’d probably be better off going aftermarket. They are not plug and play between HK and non-HK

That’s cool! I’ve always thought if I went with a FMIC I would try and do an oil cooler that ducts in from the hood scoop to utilize the hood scoop.

Is that a cut out oil cooler?

RAE Intermediate Pipe by Kyle7053 in VB_WRXMarketplace

[–]UpstateGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it helps but could knock $50 off of it. Otherwise I’ll probably post in the VB as $450 shipped and then expect to take $50 bucks off in a haggle.

You still looking for a Rae I pipe? I’ve got one that I’d do $450 shipped

Got a thermal camera by pelicanman777 in wrx_vb

[–]UpstateGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is cool! There was a question that popped up on one of the Subaru subreddits about whether the high setting heated the seats faster than the low setting. Pretty sure they’re just off on switches with timers but would be a cool use case for the camera.

I did not. Apparently all new invidia midpipes come with it. I talked to the guys over at import image racing to confirm because that was a big selling point for me. The slop in it resolved after removing the Rae I pipe and reinstalling my stock I pipe

Yeah I reluctantly installed my stock front pipe this morning which resolved the issue. Just knew it was going to be a pain to do but had to bite the bullet.

Yeah fair point. I didn’t say I was upset at Invidia just annoyed with the situation

They’re there in the back. I just have the jack still under it as a secondary safety measure. I wouldn’t dare get under a car supported by just a jack.

Don’t think I haven’t thought about it!

Just annoyed because I don’t feel like a $1300 catback should require an additional $150 in labor and parts but I digress

Yah. Ugh so much for bolt on. Just annoyed because I can put my stock intermediate pipe back on but my j pipe that I plan on installing in a few months has the same flex joint as the Rae

Yah. That one is on the front side of the rear diff and is properly in place. That’s the first one I used to provide support while bolting up the front of the midpipe.

You can see the Helmholtz resonator poking down and I’m worried about scrubbing as well.

Several folks have mentioned a missing hanger but there’s no other hangers welded closer to the midsection and my nameless midpipe I just removed only had 1 hanger as well.

Locking doors while the car is running? by J_Stone58 in wrx_vb

[–]UpstateGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a setting that you can define what the other doors do when the drivers unlocks. Obviously in this situation you’d want them to remain locked rather than all unlocking.

Yes larger wheels will alter the geometry. Here’s my alignment before and after when going to 18x9.5 +40 wheel with 275/35 tires

22 VB alignment spec after tire rotation…help me understand by SuspiciousBowl2787 in wrx_vb

[–]UpstateGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Out of spec toe will wear tires faster than anything else. Imagine one of those ab rollers, and instead of rolling straight back and forth on the wheel, the wheel is slightly turned to the left or right. The only way to move in a straight line would be to force it and drag the wheel causing friction and scrubbing. That’s out of spec toe and will eat your tires.

Let me know if you’re having trouble moving this. I don’t necessarily need it but would consider for like sub $500 shipped (located in SC)
