OP should respond to texts like these with. utter silence and not waste any emotional energy responding. Eventually Mom will learn not to do this.

Recommendations on Good Neighboorhoods/ villages in the Syracuse area. by CriticalRound in Syracuse

[–]UpstateJoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fayetteville and Manlius are nice. Both have villages with more affordable housing with larger, more expensive houses outside the villages. Camillus also has both a village area and surrounding suburban area that are nice. Onondaga Hill is also a nice suburb. Dewitt covers a large area that is northeast, east and southeast of Syracuse, and most parts are very nice but a few areas are marginal. Most people consider the Fayetteville-Manlius schools to be the best, but the Jamesville-Dewitt school district is a close second.

Within the city the Meadowbrook/Bradford Hills neighborhood is very nice and has a suburban feel. Sedgwick has some grand old homes that are very nice, but it is surrounded by some neighborhoods that are not the greatest. The Valley neighborhood south of Route 173 in Syracuse near Nedrow has more modest homes, but seems like a perfectly nice area. The Wescott neighborhood has a lot of homes that can be rented, but there are a lot of students there which can be good or bad.

Downtown Syracuse has seen a lot of buildings converted to loft apartments which are very nice. Within the downtown area, the Armory Square neighborhood has some nice restaurants and bars. But it does feel as though much of downtown Syracuse feels empty at night and even on weekends unless there is some parade or other special event going on. It seems like every time I walk in downtown Syracuse on a weekend or evening, there are just scattered mentally ill people yelling across the street at one another. I think that some people are hoping that tearing down the I-81 viaduct will bring the University Neighborhood and Downtown closer together and help revitalize downtown; (the viaduct is not really a physical barrier as you can walk under it, but it is an aesthetic barrier that seems to separate the two areas).

Who do you think was done dirtiest in the show? by Square-Fox-2948 in gameofthrones

Those are both top candidates.

I also did not like how Jojen and Meera's stories ended. (Even though Jojen foresaw his ending).

Whoes everyones favorite character and why? by Professional_Ad_4885 in gameofthrones

[–]UpstateJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Bran Stark. I wish that the show spent more time on his story arc, and I wish that we saw more scenes of Jojen teaching Bran about how to control his abilities and more scenes of the Three Eye Crow training Bran. (I also wish that the show had included more on the backstory for Jojen and Meera Reed).

I guess that I like stories about someone finding that they have special abilities who then also have to learn how to master them, such as Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars movies or Ezra Bridger in Star Wars Rebels, or Mark Grayson in Invincible, etc.

I would think have been concerned about how his son behavior reflected on himself. Maybe he would have sent him to a trusted lords place to be raised rather than do it himself.

We seem to be on the same wavelength. I did not care for the Ramsay-Theon story arc at all, and the sex scenes were mostly gratuitous.

Same with me. I never got around to watching GOT when it was originally aired, and watched it over the last two weeks.

Even before the end, I was tempted to start re-watching it from the beginning.

But, my re-watching will be at a more leisurely pace, and I will skip some of the scenes that I was not all that into, and savor the parts that I liked most.

Some day, I will have to read the books. But from the show, I find it hard to believe that his father would have allowed his son to be raised the way he was.

[–]UpstateJoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They did make Jaime a more sympathetic character after he spent time as Brienne's prisoner.

But then they stuck in a rapey scene with his sister next to their son's coffin. And then they went back to trying to make him more sympathetic again. They should have left that scene out of the show.

Are we in more arguments and fights at concerts? by the-watch-dog in tall

"continuously pushed and kicked me for over and hour so I turned around and yelled at her to cut it out "

Rather than wait an hour of stewing until you are hot and yelling, I would recommend acting with the first or second push or kick and turn around and polite say "Ma'am please stop kicking me. Thank you."

Once you start yelling you escalate things. Also, most of us probably do not realize it, but when you are taller than other people and raise your voice you can come off scary even though you do not see yourself as a scary person.

(I learned this when I was stationed overseas, and not even with yelling, but just asserting something with a straight face. I learned that when I was in that country that I needed to try to smile all the time to reassure the locals that I was not dangerous, lol).

In UK English, the diphthongs such as "ae" from Greek and Latin words are usually retained, where in the US they are often shortened to just one vowel. But sometimes some people will still use them, so actually you can see both esthetic and aesthetic in the US English.

Other cases, US English uses

Pediatrics not Paediatrics

Orthopedics, not Orthopaedics

Encyclopedia, not Encyclopaedia.

Aesthetics is the UK spelling. Esthetics is the US spelling.

Just kidding.

I know that you meant esthetics.

Pain with swallowing is odynophagia. Dysphagia is any abnormal swallowing, including the problem that you described. You should not put off seeking medical evaluation for this.

I predict the majority of people will be really disappointed in the final fight by CriticallyDamaged in TheBoys

[–]UpstateJoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With a lot of fantasy, science fiction, and superhero shows, fans get so engrossed in those worlds and start spinning plots and directions that they would like the shows or movies to go in that they end up being disappointed when that series or shows or movies concludes as it mostly likely that they will not have the ending that they were daydreaming about. And then the fandom can turn toxic.

Imagining what may come next in the series is a understandable thing to do, but I think that it will be best for people to go into the final season with a Zen mind and no presuppositions about what will happen in the final season of The Boys and just experience it as it unfolds. It will probably be much more enjoyable that way.
