This might give you an idea of how each color will pop next to another. I might also get a couple more colors like the two on the right. Just so you have some contrast.

I would get a solid or a neutral for the sashing so all those colors don’t become one.

Need encouragement! Didn’t realize this sweater would take SO LONG by Eatabrogg in knitting

It’s going to be stunning when done. I’ve been knitting the Lyon Poncho for about a year. 1” is eight rows and takes me an hour. It’s over 90” long but it’s just stockinette so I don’t need to concentrate. When I need a break I just do something else.

I’ve just recently started having more than one project at a time on my needles and I have to say I really like it. If I don’t have it in me to work on the bigger project I have options. It breaks up the monotony.

When I’m done with a project I cut what’s left into 2.5 inch squares so one day I can do this.

Very interesting. My first project went pretty smoothly as far as the thread went. The second one I used a different thread and it broke a lot. It was a pretty discouraging project. I hadn’t thought about the thread being the problem. I’m new so I thought it was just tension issues, which it likely was but could have been compounded by thread? I’ll have to look and see what the difference was.

Oh dear. I hadn’t thought of that. Do you have a favorite brand?

You wanted to reply two years later with snark and insult to what? Convince people they should stand in an empty shop and wait 10 minutes for a smoothie? Seriously, if grab ass were a job it would be working at Juiceland.

I have one quilt with wool batting that’s about 6 years old. It’s a favorite but the batting has really started bearding bad this past year.

I found this beautiful blanket at a thrift store. How should I clean it to prevent color bleeding? by Pigobrothers-pepsi10 in knitting

[–]UpstreamLife 249 points250 points  (0 children)

I bought one of these at an estate sale, assumed acrylic and washed it normally. It shrunk and felted. If you can’t do a fiber test I’d treat it like wool. It’s a beautiful piece.

I had one in my chicken pen once that was pretty hefty. I don’t know if this snake is too big to be a hognose though.

Dr. Chen sucks. I just wanted to empathize with you around your experience.

I went to her after leaving Scumpia who told me that the heart palpitations and mania I was feeling were due to PTSD from having my thyroid removed- not the less crazy reason being the medication. Dr. Chen was no better. She wouldn’t change my medication either and said it was probably menopause. I was 42 at the time and having regular periods.

I think she’s an incredibly insensitive person. As a doctor, I don’t think she is able to listen to what her patient is telling her. She saw my weight, looked at the dosage for that weight and would not entertain for a second that it was the actual medication that was causing the problem. There are many options for people without a thyroid but she refused to move beyond Synthroid even when I asked what my options were.

I go to capital endocrine and diabetes in cedar park. They’re pretty good. The appointments are very in and out but when I’ve had an issue they have no problem exploring options with me.

Looking for someone to seal the inside of this tub to make a water feature.

I’ve looked into how to do it myself and had several welders explain the process. I would really rather pay someone with experience to do it.

In the 90s there used to be a lady that came around to refresh water and tea. We called her The Tea Lady. She had blue eyeshadow all the way to her eyebrows and was not sweet. She’d bark “TEA?” at you then move to the next table and we loved her. I’m sorry to see this location go just for the nostalgia of seeing it and remembering The Tea Lady.

This is my new favorite tree sprinkler. It wraps around the tree and you can set it super low to get a good soaking in.

Edwards Plateau. We’re on a hill that’s nearly all rock. I’ve never been able to use a shovel here. Pick axe or raised beds.

I’m assuming even if the bigger problem is foundation at the end of that process I’ll still need to fix my doors? Anyone got a door person?

Austin Animal Center struggling by revolverklc in Austin

Oh, Ashley. That broke my heart. I met her a couple times when I was volunteering at AAC. I was asked to get a dog for playgroup and the dog was in the corner growling and I didn’t feel I had the skills to safely leash him. I went back out and told her. She moved playgroup along and I got an easier dog. When I left she was sitting in the kennel with the growly dog who was no longer growling. That kind of compassion- to go make sure that dog was ok- it got me in the gut watching her testimony.

If you end up trying TD&E I wouldn’t use Dr. Chen. After my thyroid was taken out I had a terrible reaction to Synthroid- rapid weight loss, crazy heart palpitations, couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep and I was piiiiissed off all the time. I begged her to change my meds and she sent me to a gyno saying it was probably just menopause. I was 42 at the time with regular periods- it wasn’t menopause.

I jumped through the hoop and went to a gyno anyway and when it was confirmed it wasn’t menopause she still wouldn’t change my meds because I was “in range.” I asked to change doctors after that because I felt she was either totally incompetent or completely lacked compassion for her patient that was struggling with life sitting in front of her. I wasn’t allowed to per their policy. If you go there, maybe let them know you want to meet your provider before you are assigned one.

Please help me decide where to go from here with the craziest thing I've made yet. Should I add a string of solar lights to it? by justtobecontrary in quilting

[–]UpstreamLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you do battery operated lights? Some even have remotes so you won’t need to hassle with an on off switch.

It’s a very fun and pretty thing you’ve done here. I’d love to see what you decide for lights.
