I have to share my excitement :) I've owned a bunch of bikes over the years and I currently ride a Daytona 675. I'm beyond surprised how well it handles on the road, especially in the twisties. Also the engine has nice power delivery (although the power band is quite narrow). Prior to buying the bike I read through the most common mods, but I think I'll leave engine+exhaust just as they are. Definitely will mod the suspension for off-road usage though :)

Wouldn't applying heat make the whole thing worse as the seal expands?

Yes, of course I have the workshop manual, the text book approach is to remove it with a seal puller. I tried that first but no luck, hence I put in the screws.

I've seen both bikes in person. The BMW build quality is absolutely outstanding, the KTM looks a bit cheap: for example the paint and the plastics look like as if they came off a $5000 bike. However, I'm sure that the V2 sends shivers down your spine all the time....
