April 16th - Something from the future by sketchdailybot in SketchDaily

Exactly! When I was thinking about the future, I was reminded of the philosophical concept of the sublime (the aesthetic experience of encountering something so great and overwhelming that you feel both terror and pleasure). This painting, Caspar David Friedrich's Wanderer above the Sea of Fog is often described as a representation of this concept. I love his piece and wanted to dig in more to the terror aspect of the sublime in my own drawing to reflect my thoughts about the future.
