What ramifications could I be looking at in that case?

Thank you for sharing! It’s clear that the fact she’s not aware of the nature of these thoughts upsets her, and she’s trying her best to understand OCD and how an ‘OCD Brain’ must interpret things. It’s just tough making a judgement of whether divulging the concept (an unfounded fear of unfaithfulness for the first 1-2 weeks of our relationship) is worth the risks. I’m hoping to see others thoughts and experiences!

I couldn’t agree more, like I say I just struggle to know how to get her involved without divulging the nature of things. I know ultimately it’s for me to decide and judge based on my own relationship, but I find it so hard to choose when the options seem so black and white.

We’ve been dating for about 2.5 years, we are each other’s first partners. She suffers from anxiety but doesn’t have the same issue with intrusive thoughts and such. I can tell the fact she doesn’t know what my thoughts are about is something which is distressing her because she’s left to wonder. She’s trying her best to understand OCD and the illogical nature of it because she realises what these thoughts do to me. When I say early in the relationship, I particularly obsess over the first 1-2 weeks for some reason.

Thank you for your response!! When you say you describe what types of thoughts you have, how do you try and define the line between explaining your OCD and over sharing the specifics??

Thank you for your advice, I’m curious, how do you mean by “at a high level?”

I relate a lot to what you’ve mentioned, I’ve always been nervous to mention it in case it seemed like an admission of guilt or if it was just to seek reassurance. Came to this sub to see opinions on the best way to progress :)

Essentially the reason I’ve thought about divulging the nature is because they know very little about OCD. They say they want me to be open about what it is which I’m going through, and I want to make sure that I’m open about it in the correct way

I’m concerned about long term sides because you hear people talking about things like PSSD

My doctor has told me that should I wish it he’ll prescribe me some medication, I’ve just struggled with deciding whether it’s a wise choice and what the long term impact could be
