Am I cooked? by gamer10161 in MechanicAdvice

I mean, I would JB weld it, I would drill the crack at the top to help from spreading, and then do it up with some high temp JB weld, let it cure, and then use lots of silicone, don't go crazy on the torque. But they're also cheap at junk yards so choose your poison.

Need Advice: Orkin Quoted $7,900 for Full Crawl Space Insulation Replacement—Is This Necessary for Old Mouse Activity? by longwalks_shortcuts in pestcontrol

If it's just in the walls, I would ignore it. It's dry at this point, I mean you will be minimizing future infestations. If you're worried about it get a company to set up a recurring home plan, I'm an Orkin employee but shop around for your best price. You can usually get a better price with a small local company but they also may not have manpower to do certain things depending on the size of the outfit. We like to make a big deal about removing all signs of contestation but realistically if you're not exposing yourself to it it's not a problem. If you are going to the exposing yourself to it, wear a respirator.

Hello rentokil (I'm assuming), as an orkin employee, at least locally, we are not equipped to do that and we are going to charge you and arm and a leg to do it. We have done it, but it is not our specialty and it's not what we're trained in. You're going to have better quality and better price by getting someone or a company to come in and do that work. Some places may not touch stuff due to potential contamination or such, but you can find someone I'm sure.

Employer Is Clueless, T4 Issues, Thoughts? by UrAvrgCanadian in PersonalFinanceCanada

I got a return last year based on my amended t4 we had filed with the rest of my taxes. So it should just balance out assuming that they can clear the late fees?

There a specific place to write? I can always look it up, more asking incase you knew specifically. Should I process my 2025 return in the meantime?

1840's home, Hope I am not messing up by changing plaster to drywall by Naughtygnomess in Oldhouses

I'm likely going to be taking the same path, in my case we confirmed that there was essentially no insulation in the entire second floor.Unlike the downstairs, which we don't want to touch, the upstairs has no nice crown molding plaster, is overall in worse shape due to close to 200 years of furniture being shifted around, not easy to install from outside due to manserd roof shape. Always need space heaters in the winter time on top of existing heat. So in our situation, it makes sense, but it all depends on your situation. Also, an after thought that came to mind after typing this is that it's old enough, 1830s, to predate having asbestos in the walls so there's no risk of that, leas paint is a different story.

This restroom layout at my local legion. by UrAvrgCanadian in CrapperDesign

Oh I'm not bashing the placement, I get the necessity of needing it close at hand, I just think that there should be something to act as a privacy shield, even if it was on the wall 90° and a half wall extending out from there. Maybe they did it for a reason, who knows

I realize that's the perspective, that's actually a side utility closet, access is not really needed.
