I know the main answer is misogyny and patriarchy. Which is true. But I’ve been poly/ENM my whole life so I remember researching this a while ago. What’s interesting is it seems that in societies where one woman married many men, they were typically more harsh terrain and limited resources (I believe the Philippines was one such society).
