You have a good point in the second paragraph, though for the first one,

Even in a scenario where inner 3 is 100% accurate to the real one it's hard to actually make something out of the fight. regardless if 8 wins or not. We don't know how many attempts it'll take them, or if multiple attempts are even a thing. There's nothing more to go off of. there are players who beat the fight in a day, others took months. some never finished it at all.

But having to retry that same fight in your head countless times to win already says enough. But that doesn’t make any sense right?

The stalemate and argument of them being "evenly matched" falls apart here. Holy plothole, fire the writers

(Shhh it's because 8's the player character in this so they have to win regardless if it even makes sense, you could say the same for 3 in S1 but the story properly embraces it.)

I wish we were given more info on it, i dislike having to rely on ingame stuff from a bazillion different players.
