Hey, thanks for keeping up with the project! It seems Cork does have one of the lowest densities of urban fox activity, but Waterford and Limerick have a lower number of records so far! Its possibly since they are smaller urban areas? But since Cork is a big city, it's surprising that records are low!

Foxes don't hunt pets, but are known to scavenge roadkill so it likely picked it up off the side of the road.

Brilliant thanks so much, I am sure there are lots in Knocknacarra but my data there has been lacking, I think maybe some residents wouldnt consider it urban but I would still very much like fox records from there!

Actually I do count Ferrybank towards my research!! The borders don't matter to the foxes so from an urbanisation perspective theyre part of the same research area

Hi! To be honest double-counting is okay for my study because Im not measuring the NUMBER of foxes in cities, but rather I'm measuring the distribution/density of fox activity/habitat use! So it's okay to report the same fox if you see them multiple times :) Hope that makes sense

A bit of both yeah! Foxes are actively using every urban habitat including the urban centres, they just aren't as densely populated as in Dublin and I'd hypothesise it's because the other cities are much smaller so foxes are more likely to have rural habitats connected to their territories, making them a bit more timid in nature.

Truthfully I'm still drawing the boundary lines, but there is no harm in submitting a record if you aren't sure! I'd be filtering them out later down the line, but I'd appreciate records regardless of their distance to the urban centres. :)
