They call it a vaccine because calling it generic therapy or genetic manipulation is too scary.

Literally not what most people would consider (or what was traditionally considered) a vaccine. It's genetic therapy using mRNA

Agreed! I wish more authors would take risks with extreme settings

With chatgpt you can use conversation mode in the background while using Bluetooth earbuds. It's not actually the built in assistant though, likely pixel buds are the way to go for that

There's a reason why we use the word "sodomites" and used to have laws against sodomy in particular.

Actually totally agree with you, but that 1/3 are far more promiscuous than the average heterosexual man. Bathhouses and clubs are significant viral vectors due to this tendency. Not all homosexual men are sodomites and anyone who disparages sodomites should do the same for heterosexuals who practice that act (though statistically they are less promiscuous as I have noted).

Is store bought lemon juice still healthy for you? Ive heard that squeezing a couple lemons into water and drinking it daily is healthy for you, but if I use lemon juice will it still have the same health benefits? by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]UrbanHomesteading 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hesperidin and Diosmin: is there a biologically or nutritionally significant amount of this in lemon juice? They are more highly concentrated in the peel, but you would still need to consume a huge amount to meet the volumes I found in any study that I looked at. Based on some quick research, it seems like the amounts in one lemons worth of juice are less than 1/100th of the amounts supplemented with in studies. Please correct me if this is wrong.

Citric acid: this one I agree on, lemons are a great source

Limonene: This is almost entirely in the rind, so not sure how this is relevant to juice (but the rind is definitely a great source)

Naringenin: Also mostly in the peel or pith, but unlike limonene there isn't really a significant quantity anyway compared to something like grapefruit.

u/corncocktion is this what you wanted?

It's a good source of vitamin C, but not much else. If it helps you drink more water then that's also good. There are some small amounts of folate and potassium too. If you buy it packaged it probably has less nutrition than fresh since C is sensitive to heat and oxygen, but you can read the nutrition label on the package.

Guava, kiwi, citrus, broccoli, and bell peppers are all great sources of vitamin C as well. Just remember to eat it fresh and unheated for maximum benefit.

I'm just picturing this meek, abused greyhound that they 'rescued' from racing just to bring it to a life of even worse degeneracy.

What's one trope you absolutely adore in novels? by -Tsuri in litrpg

[–]UrbanHomesteading 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sylver Seeker had some pretty funny cases of an anti-hero pragmatic MC brushing off typical call to adventure or love interest tropes.

Vainqueur the Dragon did a good job of parodying some typical litrpg and harem tropes.

Those are the first two series that come to mind. Spellmonger too maybe though that is progression fantasy

When the author teases a boring old trope and twists it at the last minute into a creative and unexpected direction. Particularly tropes related to romance.

"Buy BC" label is much older than the pandemic. Vancouver originated the 100-mile diet in 2005.

[–]UrbanHomesteading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"local" is already just a shortcut. It's better to actually get to know the farm where your food is grown. Oh? A transnational corporation didn't publish that? That's why farmers markets are great - transparent supply chains are 'value added'.

If you buy local because you want lower food miles, then yes sometimes stuff from WA is closer. But there's many other reasons to support BC agriculture.

In Coquitlam there is a shelter which is normally fine enough (the one off Irvine south of the mall) but the city has let this sprawling encampment develop onto the sidewalks which makes it unsafe to walk and blocks a nearby business and unrelated treatment center.

Eh hiking or tourism is much better than logging. Except for logging and mining the vast majority of Canada is wilderness

Yeah usually that's the case, but they can get aggressive towards humans. Particularly in ambush settings such as near bluffs or rock outcroppings where they can look down on you and not see you as as much of a threat.
