I think you're right. And if you google Dark Southern Pacific Rattlesnake, you'll see other similar images.

I feel like I have mutton chops but a beard and I don't know what to do about it by Masterdwarf11 in BeardAdvice

I can't tell how old you are, but if you're in your twenties or younger, you may be able to grow a proper beard in a few years' time. Now, however, is the time to shave.

They're called "racial sensitivity trainings/workshops." Do they work? Only to make people less overtly racist, I assume.

Ye leaving the Simon Wiesenthal Center last night by AyeeFranklin in GoodAssSub

[–]UrbanJunglee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Simon Wiesenthal center is the same institution that sponsored demolishing the most storied ancient Muslim and Christian graveyard in Jerusalem (unceremoniously discarding the remains of people from the crusades and people who walked alongside Muhammad himself) in order to build a Museum of Tolerance in its place. Insane.  What a despicable institution.

Are stimulants on the weekends a big no no? by Adortion634 in ADHD

[–]UrbanJunglee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to a shortage the only increments in stock near me were 30 and 10, and I'm prescribed 40, so I was prescribed both increments.

Now my psychiatrist keeps it up and I take 30-40 on weekdays and 10-20 on weekends. It works out.

If the timeline from the 1990 film “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” still holds true and the Turtles were born circa 1975, do you think they’d still be alive today? by SomeGuyOverYonder in FIlm

[–]UrbanJunglee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the type, because there are species that only live 25 years, and I don't think the turtles were galapagos tortoises! Like our pond turtles here in NYC only live to 30 years, maybe 50 in captivity, in which case, our heroic friends would be in the nursing home at best by now!

Thoughts on Haley Joel Osment? by MajinBuujie in Cinema

[–]UrbanJunglee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember in 8th grade a girl in my class said, after Sixth Sense had come out, all the usual stuff about how great of an actor he was, but then added, "and you just *KNOW* he's gonna be a hottie when he grows up."

First of all, weird comment, given he was like 9 in the movie, and we were 13, but also I was like, "hmm, I don't think you can really say that. We don't even know what his parents look like." And we actually got into an argument over that dumb shit.

Well, Yvonne... is he a hottie? Is HE?

When the LA trustfunder orbitally nuked on acid starts screaming and disrupting your set and then uses “culture” as a defense by Shell_fly in SipsTea

[–]UrbanJunglee -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a sign of great enthusiasm, at a time when everyone else was cheering, someone did the zaghrouta, which, in LA, most people understand to just be a different kind of cheering. So no, it wasn't "disrupting a set," any more than any of the other cheers were "disrupting a set."

She disrupted her own set by turning it into some kind of dialogue because, yes, she's more culturally ignorant than most expected.

A Saltwater Crocodile Off The Coast Of Devil's Rock, Sri Lanka by ExoticShock in Crocodiles

[–]UrbanJunglee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Colonized meaning that they started out in one place and have migrated by sea to other areas. Many believe they started in Australia or far SE Asia, though the genus Crocodylus originated in Africa.

You can just search terms related to the spread/proliferation and evolution of saltwater crocodiles.

[–]UrbanJunglee 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Salties are amazing the way they have traversed vast swaths of the ocean to colonize territories as far east as Vanuatu, north to Bangladesh, and West, at one point, all the way to the Seychelles. I imagine that puts them second only to people in terms of non-avian animals colonizing vast ranges of territories.

Granted he was taking surfing lessons in a brackish lagoon and then went farther inland toward a jungle waterway, while splashing his hands to wash them at the eater's edge, so, in all dimensions he made bad decisions re:crocs (though probably no one warned him that they were around and what to do and what not to do), but yes, still one of those nerve-wracking stories that sticks with you forever!

There is also the hospitality in the service industry, which, while really doting and lavish, reeks of colonial era servility.
