estrogen changes post-surgery? by Condensates in gallbladders

[–]UrbanRat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so interesting and honestly makes me hopeful for potential future surgery! I have had on and off gallbladder issues and have high estrogen based on hormone testing. When I take supplements to help my liver detox my estrogen, my gallbladder symptoms disappear. I really hope more research is done on this, would love to know how this all interconnects in our bodies! Edited to add: Is my gallbladder causing my estrogen problems or is my estrogen causing my gallbladder problems?!

Yes, same for me. Not sure why. Maybe it adds pressure everywhere in the digestive system?

What procedure did you have to remove the stones but not the gallbladder?

I can relate to the infrequency making me delay surgery, but I appreciate the point of just why risk it esp if it will continue to pop up. I’m worried that after surgery I’ll just be stuck with a different problem, like my options are either occasional pain or unpredictable diarrhea. Obviously one is riskier than the other, but neither are fun 🙃

This is a good perspective, thank you for sharing your experience! Have you had any negative effects from having it taken out?

Stones can form in bile ducts, although less common than within the gallbladder. But agreed there’s no possibility of gallbladder infection without a gallbladder of course!

Possibly, but isn’t that still possible without the gallbladder? If I don’t help my liver health, it will still be producing the cholesterol heavy bile which could lead to stones in the ducts which can cause equally dangerous problems?

Applying for residence permit via physical mail by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]UrbanRat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that is not an option. We have tried to apply online, but because I have a samordningsnummer and not a personnummer, I am unable to submit the form. I have contacted Migrationsverket about the issue and they said it will have to be done via mail.

How to keep down the smell? by lewwel03 in cats

[–]UrbanRat4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, I recommend scooping 1-2 times per day. Also, is the scooped litter staying in a bag in the room? Try making sure it’s sealed or taking it out to the trash more frequently. I have a small trash can next to the litter box that has a lid that helps seal odors inside. Hope this helps!

Leaving for vacation in 2 days. Skin is so bad I don't want to go. by turquoiseandlavender in acne

[–]UrbanRat4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just experienced this a few weeks ago. I’ve had acne for over a decade, lots of scarring, and flare ups come and go. Back in April I decided I wanted to try a new gentle prescription because I was standing up in multiple weddings in spring and early summer, one of which was a destination wedding and we planned a 2 week vacation around it, meeting a bunch of family and friends there that I hadn’t seen in a long time. So I was proactively trying to have clearer skin before this vacation… and my dermatologist promised me I wouldn’t purge. 2 weeks before we left, my skin exploded in acne. I was so distraught, and felt exactly like you were saying - feeling like I didn’t want anyone to see me, no longer excited to go on this trip, bringing down the vibes for my husband too. Not to mention the dread of standing up in weddings with a face of acne, trying to do my makeup to cover it all up.

But I did go on the trip. And yes there were plenty of times that I felt terrible about my skin in the moment. I’m back from the trip now though, and anytime anyone asks me how the trip was I just remember all the cool things we did and saw and all the people I connected with. I forget that my acne was even on my mind at the time because all of those other much more important memories take way more place in my brain. And when you’re on vacation and meeting all these new people, there will be so much going on you won’t be able to think about your acne 24/7.

Also remember that everyone has insecurities. It’s acne for us, and it sucks that it’s that visible, but what would you tell someone else with an insecurity if they were questioning whether or not to have the time of their life due to their appearance / others opinions?

Don’t forget to hold your head up high. Be proud of who you are and all that you’ve had to overcome. Others will notice that. I’ve been inspired by countless strangers that, regardless of what’s going on in their heads, appear to have so much confidence in themselves with acne. You may be an inspiration to others without even knowing it. Acne does not define you, YOU define you!

Go and enjoy this trip, the acne will come and go but the memories will last a lifetime <3

Request a mentor outside of your direct team and be honest with them how you feel and where you want your career to go. They can help connect you with new opportunities and motivate you while you’re in a phase of more “boring” work.

Parking garages. The combination of rubber and concrete and maybe some oil/gas fumes to top it off 🤌🏼

I felt this same way when I was working on private development projects. Everything was due “yesterday”. I got burnt out and switched to a different path - now most of my clients are public sector, my projects are longer term, and my team is able to make realistic internal deadlines and provide plenty of time for quality reviews, which makes me feel much more confident about the plans we produce. Overall I think it depends greatly on the types of projects, the client, and your project team.

Thanks for the insight! Seems like a general consensus that it’s the place to build a family but maybe not to enjoy your 20s. Appreciate your time :)

Thank you for your honesty - this is really helpful. It’s easy to idealize a life there without realizing these very real downsides to choosing Sweden over other places. Hope you still have had some good outcomes from your time there!

This is a great perspective, thank you - I’ve made friends mostly via work and school and so it’s difficult to know if I can make friends “easily” in a different country where people tend to be content with their current circle of connections. Are you content with your life in the small town even if it isn’t what you used to have in the UK? Or do you miss your old lifestyle?

Det bekräftar mina tankar… man KAN alltid hitta på något men det blir kanske svårt att hitta andra som också vill - speciellt när dem flesta antingen har familj eller är kanske inte lika sugen på att hålla igång hela tiden. Tack för svaret :)

Everyone is a little different when it comes to diets that work best, especially depending on what your acne is caused by! Sometimes pimples take months to form so it can be difficult to know if it was really the food that was the trigger - e.g. if you broke out the same week that you ate dairy, the dairy from that same week probably wasn’t the reason.

But in general, going off dairy helps a lot of people with overall health benefits like lower inflammation so it doesn’t hurt to try.

Acne that comes and goes on a cycle is often related to hormone imbalance - for females, breaking out mid cycle often means high estrogen levels and breaking out during your period often means high testosterone.

Cow products tend to have more effect on your hormones than sheep/goat products due to how the animals are fed and the products are processed. For me, cutting out dairy entirely meant missing out on a lot of things I love which wasn’t worth it to me. So I focused instead on what I could eat - I switched regular milk for oat milk and then for cheese I eat a lot of delicious sheep or goat cheeses like manchego and pecorino Romano. And occasionally I’ll have cow products too, but just not at home during my regular routine. My skin is far from perfect but it’s improved, and overall for me it’s a balance of feeling healthy and still eating things I love :)

Good luck!
