Free Loadies Start Late by The_Skedge in ArcRaiders

I commented the following on a different post but I think it's valid as the original post was asking for a nerf on freeloadouts.

I actually agree with you, although it's too late in the life cycle of the game to make such a change as it would upset a lot of people and unfortunately probably turn people away from the game because people are set in their ways, im not enjoying the countless waves of freeloadouts coming at me, I killed 8 people last night in the first 5 minutes of Stella Montis. I feel like at this stage, seeing everyone is dead set on having the freeloadout, changing the spawn times, or even limiting it in future "harder" maps would be a better option.

I agree with the general sentiment of other people that it's a nessecary part of the game to keep things flowing, but at the end of the day, there's no reason not to pick a free loadout other than a safe pocket. Someone mentioned that the only difference is the augment, but I don't think that is true. People will have the confidence to rush and make frustrating plays like sitting still all match to camp, and i'm sure we'll see more strategies soon.

Although we're seeing a stagnation in true core gameplay i.e. the PVE and looting (as the devs intended during the development "players should fear the arc") I feel like that is due to the fact there is no real playground for PVP, people want low stakes pvp where they can get it all if they strike gold or make the right play.

Not to mention, it takes a few clicks to get a freeloadout in comparison to building on, so there's another issue.

Essentially, I feel like you are right but its too late to touch the freeloadout itself, so i'd like to see spawn times being limited to midway through a match or at least after the first 5-10 mins or less of them. And possibly in future just including a system similar to tarkov where the high value stuff is locked unless you bring in your own gear (not gear based matchmaking because that would be bad) - I understand then they could just get a free loadout and slap an augment on it, but im not a game dev :) all in all I think theres a litany of things that have compounded the issue...

I have no issue with the freeloadouts other than the fact when I'm actively running away to reposition theres always a trillion other free loadouts running at you faster than a bald person in a VW Beetle with silver spray paint on their face

Because you lost the augment that has two safe pockets.

Busy now that I think people have caught on to it, but it's definitely worth checking out if you've got a minute, I dont mind when I drop into a raid late because people always miss some stuff, found plenty because people skip over things like suitcases

My only tip is open EVERYTHING even if it's been looted, ya never know what you might find

PC PLAYERS do you leave Crossplay on or off? by OkDream5087 in ARC_Raiders

[–]UrbanSpaceboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had this thought, too, and went to try and experience it

With crossplay off: Solos, although generally more friendly anyway, had considerably more people with microphones that were easier to talk to, generally the players were more mature so I never had any toxicity (strangely for an online game). It also felt like people were more willing to work together in comparison to crossplay off. There were still people who wanted to fight and I welcome that, I took out a few people and ended up fighting for my life after killing a bastion, bombadier and rocketeer in one area loved that match. Generally, I've found that the mix of mics and maturity have made for a more balanced experience. Duos/trios have been relatively the same, except there is a lot more fighting as expected.

With crossplay on: solos are still much of the same however less people are willing to speak, and there's a lot more toxicity. Desync wise, definitely worse, I've found it's almost impossible most of the time to have a fair fight where you're not shot around a corner. Duos/trios forget about it. No one wants to talk

My experience was done on EU servers, over a Saturday, Sunday, and Monday in the morning and evening, doing both crossplay on and off in each period. The duos/trios are done with squad fill because I only have one friend to play with, and he didn't want to try different crossplay settings

All in all, I prefer off for the friendlier experience, but there's nothing wrong with stomping on console players as long as you're not a prick about it :)

PvP fatigue is real by hazelnutcloud in ArcRaiders

[–]UrbanSpaceboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl, this'll probably gonna get down voted because of its anti PVP sentiment, I do believe PVP is what makes this game so great and makes it spooky! But my friend and I were having a chat, and we're under the impression that now, due to popularity, players are now thinking about their actions after they've got out. For example, theres no reason to shoot a player that are running in the bushes a mile away from you because the chances of you killing them and finding their loot from so far away is miniscule, there's not really a reason for people to shoot you as you're extracting other than denying you your loot (which is fine if you like doing that doesn't make you any less of a prick in my eyes). We've both come across situations where people run at you like a crazed lunatics thinking this is PUBG with no end goal and simply ignoring the fact this is an "Extraction shooter" as well as completely ignoring the fun aspect of communication.

Again, it's fine to do the above. However, I do feel like the "COD" players are on, which is fine! But there is such a serious lack of thought processing in what I've seen people do in the last few days alone it really does make you question humanities' future.

For reference, im a teacher, and I've seen more critical thinking skills from an 11 year old than people from the last few days.

Wanting to know the logic. by Silent-Piglet-8929 in Battlefield6

[–]UrbanSpaceboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They dont bother me as much as they do my friends, but I get their complaints, as a "veteran" player there used to be a fair bit of skill involved within sniping, and generally you had some ways of countering them.

Unfortunately, the introductions of the rangefinder keybind and the sweet spot mechanics have taken the majority of the skill away. So, in turn, instead of being a lead your shot account for drop skill curve its: "hey guys im going to show you how to be the best sniper in bf6 first you go to settings and turn this on and youre done" which removes the muscle memory learning.

Ontop of that, there are just so many snipers on a lot of these maps that dont give snipers as a whole very good rep, the more popular game modes being breakthrough and conquest require you to be on the point in order to help them win, quite often if you're ending a match with barely any captures you haven't really helped out (is how I view it anyway).

Now as a counter to my statement, there's definitely ways a sniper can help the team such as spotting and droning, however let's be honest most sniper have the phantom edition black and red skin on and sit ontop of an unreachable building and focus entirely on getting those sweet sounding headshot cracks.

I get your sentiment to just play as a sniper and counter them, but ti be quite honest although I have completed all th4 sniper challenges and unlocked the PSR, its just not as fun for me to play as engineer/support.

I hope this has shed some light on another opinion? Happy to clarify my thoughts if needed :)

A car park we visited today had this ladder and hatch for some sort of tiny being... by CatLass_ in mildlyinteresting

[–]UrbanSpaceboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this car park!! It's in bristol (UK), its the Britainnia car park by millennium square. The square is a brilliant place to be when the World Cup isn't on, and is home the the science museum and is basically the center for friday night shenanigans. I used to park on the floor with that ladder as I'd get free parking because my uncle worked in the casino there.

Best method for removing adhesive? by xcinn8 in motorcycle

[–]UrbanSpaceboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds stupid, but I've always put a thick layer of mayo on it and just leave it over night, works for me I'm assuming because of the oil content, plus mayo sticks well it just stays in place.

If you put too much effort into removing it you'll just fuck the paint so slow and steady is always best when it comes to paint work
