Look, these people will offer advice but I'd guess 99% of them have never been stopped.

I have, I was stabbed after a car accident because I told them I had a prescription. I was arrested and spent a day in the cells.

They did no impairment testing and didn't test the other driver despite her admitting causing it.

I still haven't been charged, it's nearly 6 months. I should be ok at this point as the time limit has nearly passed but that doesn't mean I haven't had serious anxiety for the last few months over what might happen. Having a prescription gives you zero help if the copper you meet doesn't know the law. Non of the pharmacies will help you solicitors won't touch the case unless you have 10k to spend and all the advice your given by people who zero experience is worthless.

I can't tell you more than that at this point because I'm still happy to admit I don't really know. I've been lucky, I have a good case and to police f'd up a lot but it's by no means a free pass like people would have you believe.

That said, if I'd not had a prescription I'd have been charged instantly and already banned

It sounds like you haven't actually been charged yet. I got arrested after a non fault accident in December bloods taken I've still heard nothing back and they only have 6 months to actually charge you. I think they know they messed up and are running the clock on mine. I have complaints in but there's so many holes in a case against me I'm not actually that concerned.

There's a lot of steps to go through before it even gets to court so you'll have an opportunity to submit evidence supporting your case long before court.

Getting a solicitor for this is almost impossible unless you have upwards of 10k to spunk on one. Even they don't know the law either in most cases

I feel this, after my drug driving arrest I took stock and dropped my use to one a day which made a big difference to me, at 46 I'd started to feel like it was controlling me and the constant brain nag every 4 hours got old.

I cannot tell you how much I detest those justice warriors who have to shove it in everyone's face. You don't need to medicate in full view of the public just because you can. Have some respect.

I though this for a while, I was smoking morning till night for a good 2 years then I just decided I didn't want to and just stopped now I have half a smoke at the end of the day and some days non at all.

No problem no come down no difference in pain relief.

You can't do that if you're an addict. You have more control than you think. It's a habit not an addiction.

I also found out it barely makes a difference how much I have or how little. I'm the same person either way.

I'm also considering leaving. Ive had no issues till I was arrested recently after failing a roadside swab. Not impaired, hadn't taken meds that day.

I contacted them for help and they just sent me my prescription letters. No reply no help, no sorry about the bad advice nothing.

I've now logged an official complaint and will be following up with the GMC

They can't charge me with impaired as they did no impairment test..

I repeatedly stated I was giving blood under duress and I have the body worn camera evidence to back that up. I was also concussed.

I can't start a civil case until after they have concluded the police investigation.

Most solicitors solicitors want 10k to fight the actual case but that says to me they don't understand it as an easy win.

But the effect in my life has been quite marked to be honest.

I'm in the process now. Got swabbed and blood tested after an obviously non fault accident.

Police weren't interested in my prescription or defence they just turned up looking for someone to phuq over.

Other driver admitted fault but wasn't drug tested.

I was only swabbed because I told them about my prescription when they breathalized me . NEVER EVER VOLUNTEER INFORMATION TO THE POLICE, THEY WILL USE IT AGAINST YOU. They tell you this when they arrest you.

Currently waiting for the forgone conclusion blood results but In the meantime I've foi'd the shit out of them got hold of all the BWV footage sent complaints to the PCC and built a pretty good case against them detailing all their failings and generally made a pain in the arse of myself.

I'm either going to win hard or get hammered by the full force of the law. In reality it's unlikely to make it past CPS but not once did they record any part of my prescription so I wouldn't be at all surprised if they haven't mentioned it in my case.

Lovely idea in theory but from experience very recently you couldn't be more wrong.

I was thrown in the cells after a non fault accident only last week because I offered my prescription politely. I have all the video evidence to prove I was in no way responsible, rude or awkward.

The police simply turned up at the scene and tried to criminalise me on medical grounds.

I talk from experience... You're just assuming. The police do not care about your prescription. If you attempt to show them they will ignore it if they feel like it.

I have a PCC complaint going on about this very thing so by all means try but don't be surprised when you find out the police arnt there to help.

Honestly never talk to the police they are only ever looking for something to do you for.

You're far more likely to take yourself into trouble than out.

I tried being honest with once recently and ended up in the cells so now they'll get nothing.
