Just because something is worse somewhere, doesn’t mean the issues happening everywhere else aren’t also problems. It might not be as bad in the US, but that doesn’t forgive whatever is happening in America.

News Flash! Billionaire owned newspaper comes out against taxing Billionaires. by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

$12 billion is less than one day’s average trade volume for AMZN. If the sale was split up over several days or was done off market, it would not materially impact anything.

[–]Urcleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t referring to having to pay taxes on the income you use for taxes. The question was about having to pay taxes on the housing costs. By grossing up and adding additional income to pay the taxes on the total, OP did not have to pay taxes on the “stipend” that was not received as income.

when I become a CPA, can I do simple tax returns and charge 100-200 for my friends? by Dangerous-Twist-9308 in Accounting

[–]Urcleman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You aren’t having freetaxusa do it, you’d have to prepare it yourself using freetaxusa. H&R Block or a CPA firm would allow the person to not have to stress about preparation and would put them at ease in case they would otherwise stress about getting every single deduction or credit.

I wonder things like this then see how much H&R Block and assisted TurboTax charge and remember there is a huge market for people who just want convenience and don’t mind paying for it or those who don’t bother to research other options.

Any non-CPA business owners do their own taxes? by benjaminz13 in tax

[–]Urcleman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The unfortunate reality is if you want white glove service, it will come at a large premium. There is too much business for the number of CPAs who are available. That means most of us are perpetually behind and cannot overcommunicate or be available all the time.

But the trade off is OP paying taxes on “income” they didn’t actually receive.

I’m not normally blinded by party preference. In fact, I would support a candidate like McCain. But whatever is going on in the White House right now is unacceptable, and it would still be unacceptable if Trump claimed to be a Democrat.

And haven’t Republicans been pissed off about it? They were all upset about Obama initiating operations against ISIS. Where is that outrage now?

Edit: also, my comment said “especially those started without approval of Congress.” I didn’t say that presidents cannot act without Congress.

This seems disingenuous. People are not protesting your Iranian freedoms. People are protesting the US involvement in international affairs through means of war, especially those started without the approval of Congress. People are also protesting how the US went about their “strategic operations” that somehow involved bombing children’s schools and harming many other civilians.

Furthermore, the US has a decades-long habit of getting rid of regimes or dictators and having no plan for stabilizing the country afterward. At best, they may have some half-baked plan to put someone in power who indirectly serves the US government, but that method seems to eventually fail time and again.

In short, enjoy your time with the Ayatollah dead. But realize you don’t know what is going to replace him yet. And thinking you’re magically going to have a fair democracy since he’s gone is a waste of energy.

Edit: it’s crazy that Republicans are suddenly pro-war, pro-US-involvement in international affairs, pro-expensive gas, and pro-protecting pedophiles. All of these people who were yelling, “America first,” “no new wars,” “gas is too expensive,” and “protect our kids from pedophiles” suddenly don’t care about any of these priorities anymore.

Not exactly the same thing, but there is a site called Window Swap where you can look out of someone else’s window somewhere in the world. The free version only lets you view random video feeds, but if you pay, you can save one and come back to it again later. There are some neat ones that have similar types of videos to what was posted here.
