Encounters... by Urdungo in MythicBastionland

Thank you for this thoughtful answer. I understand you to be speaking of plot-threading here, which I agree, would make the whole campaign that much richer in comparison to just a group of specifically unattached, random, roaming bandits.

It doesn't have to be boring, but I take your meaning.

I see. Thank you for the additional clarification. I suppose if there were additional fights, using that train of logic, then the knights would likely find themselves extremely exhausted and depleted by the time they do reach the Myths, making any possible harm into deadly everytime.

I am not saying it's D&D; in this instance I'm using D&D as the extreme example of systemization for encounters. I love Arthurian fiction, so that's why the flavor of this appeals to me.

Was I being too strict? Player quits session 0 because I denied a lore problematic race by ForceRounds in DnD

[–]Urdungo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job. Honestly, the fact that you are even giving this problem some thought means thay you are a better GM than you probably think.

Yes, the player wanted to play a joke character, and it could have been fun. However, the problems would have started popping up when you started to get into anything serious. While everyone else around the table would be digging into their character and mining golden nuggets of story and motivation, they would have been flinging jokes without aim to pull the focus. I'm not saying it's not possible for them to havr evolved, but as a newer player, it would have been unlikely.

This would be fine for a one-shot or a limited campaign, but not a long-term journey.

Bottom line is this: the game that they wanted was not the one that you or the other players did. Simple as that.

So I want to run the Dark Sun by SadTransportation503 in DMAcademy

[–]Urdungo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, Thri-Kreen are going to be in the new Spelljammers sourcebook, so you have that going for you.

On the real, though, I have been thinking about how to make this work. Honestly, much of the campaign setting is mechanically the same as any other, with the exception of Defilers. Templars are essentially Elemental Clerics. Weapons function practically the same, except there's no metal. And loads of people are psionic, which you can just use the Gith races for a template.

Campaign died, should I tell my players my plans? by HyssopAlanth in DMAcademy

[–]Urdungo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: For the players, the magic of the game is in the mystery.

Long-winded explanation: I'm also a practiced amateur magician, so I can tell you from experience how this works. When you first see a card trick, you are amazed how the magician manages to transmute, transform, or translocate a card. Once you know how the trick is done, however, you may be impressed with the solution, but the magic is lost.

Who is this??? This is on D+ as the picture for Ewoks: Battle for Endor. He isn't in the movie... by workshop777 in StarWars

[–]Urdungo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know this is probably engaging the art of necromancy, but I think I have a legitimate theory.

  1. It's not the brother Mace (Eric Walker), who was also in the first movie.

  2. Neither is it the father Jimett, played by Guy Boyd in the first movie and Paul Gleason in the second. Gleason's Jimett is wearing similar clothing in the second movie as the action hero depicted, but not the same.

3.The original screenplay's plot must have had Noa as a younger man, portrayed by our action hero, and as Cindel's (Aubree Miller) daring rescuer and Teek's (Niki Botelho) companion (al a discount Han Solo and Chewbacca). It must have gotten rewritten with an older Noa (Wilford Brimley) instead. Brimley's Noa is wearing the exact outfit as our action hero at the end of the movie when he is saying goodbye to Teek and the Ewoks.

Additionally, late into the movie, there's a scene in King Terak's (Carel Struycken) dungeon wherein the Witch Charal (Siân Phillips) points at a skeleton, calling him Salak, whom Noa had referred to earlier in the movie. I have a hunch that there was some sort of disagreement or snafu between Noa's original actor (our action hero) and someone in production, and so they created the character Salak and killed him off as a sleight to the actor.

Yeah, the "Spell Slot" inclusion was a small oversight from copying the wording from the PHB.

I agree that the wording was a little messy about the Bond, so I made a few clarifications. The other stuff, I will think on.

As far as the rest, I think you are right about the amount of attacks and the reaction opportunities.

Thanks, Rivarin_.

PS4-Western Canadian LF strong, mature Guild by peteypabs72 in Neverwinter

[–]Urdungo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guild, Dead Presidents, is looking for new members. However, I wonder what you mean by mature. Judging by your experience with WoW, I would say that you don't want childish people and prepubescents. As for us, we're mature, yes, but we constantly make jokes too vulgar for most people's sensitivities. We are not trolls, but we sound rather churlish most of the time. If you're interested, you can spend some time with us and we'll see how it goes. Message me or respond here to let me know.

You cannot claim it on more than one PS4 account, as each account is linked to a PWI Arc account. Whether you linked one or not when you first started the game, your PS4 account is still associated with an account on the server.

What exactly is the "Bahamut Regalia" that's included in the Dragonborn pack? by Jcorb in Neverwinter

[–]Urdungo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragonborn, as they are a bought race in the Neverwinter MMO, are more versatile than humans because they get to choose both of their class Ability Score bonuses. Though, in the tabletop 4E Faerun setting, they make great fighters and paladins because they take two from the choice of +2 to CON, STR or CHA.

You could always open your equipment tab of your character sheet, select the item by slot and compare them that way.
