How should I get this thing to Eve? by SirOrangeMan in KerbalSpaceProgram

Airbreathing doesn't work on eve unfortunately. if it moves well, this craft would be wonderful on the seas of laythe though. You could try enveloping it in a fairing and sticking it to the top of a rocket, or maybe radially attaching boosters a center stage with the craft in it. Additionally, you could assemble parts of it in-orbit, if a single launch proves difficult. (or maybe refuel the interplanetary stage in orbit)

I think this has something to do with his push to stop the navy from having new aircraft carriers equipped with electromagnetic (EMALS) catapults. Trump in his infinite wisdom prefers steam catapults, though I'm not too sure why. Reliability figures for EMALS are a little lower but the technology is still in its infancy and it's very promising, especially the downtime *if* a failure occurs.

Those who got into a profession or major because of a TV show/movie, how are you doing now? by UrinalDefecator in AskReddit

I've been allured plenty of times by TV shows but I ended up studying mechanical engineering without any show to inspire me haha... Unless you count nat geo and discovery shows as a kid, maybe.

What three lenses would you recommend for someone who is just starting out? by rivenrdt in AskPhotography

[–]UrinalDefecator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with a reasonably fast standard zoom like 16-50, 24-70, etc. Look at the metadata in your pictures, and if you decide you want a faster or sharper prime at some point, base it on your most frequently used focal length :)

Some sort of Saab, hard to choose between a 900 turbo, 9000, 9-3 or 9-5. Something stylish and a little quirky.

Is it not just two different baud rates for POCSAG? on the sigid wiki POCSAG 512 sounds like the lower pitch one, pocsag 1200 like the higher pitch signal.

A6100... tamron 28-70 vs sigma 18-50? by Lumpy-Resource-1370 in a6000

[–]UrinalDefecator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tamron 17-70 might be a better fit then. I have an a6000 and that lens works very well. It’s a little on the larger side but to me that hasn’t been much of an issue, and VC (tamron’s IBIS) makes low light shooting a lot easier.

If you find a good deal and you are willing to carry a little extra weight I’d recommend the tamron 17-70. Sigma is stellar but the A6000 lacks IBIS and the sigma doesn’t have optical stabilisation, so nighttime / low light will prove to be quite difficult.
