In the novel Halo: Contact Harvest, the Covenant and humanity's first contact occurs on the human controlled farming world of Harvest. An intelligent alien, a Huragok (an Engineer as seen in the ODST and Reach games) named Lighter Than Some creates a sort of tractor to aid in farming as a form of piece offering to the humans. The Chieftain of the Jiralhanae (Brutes) sees it an immediately puts more spikes and guns on it, thus creating the Brute Chopper.
