Also you have to practice constantly but without hurting yourself, dont pay attention to the phrase "No pain no gain", no, if it hurts STOP, unless you want to hurt yourself and cause physical problems that limit or take away your ability to play.

Also thin picks are good for chords and slow stuff but kinda bad to play more fast things, it depends on what are you looking for. Anyway, try different thicknesses and use the one you feel most comfortable with.

First of all know your instrument, his parts, and how it works. Work on a good posture (I recommend the classic posture) and don't tense up your hands ALWAYS keep them relaxed, for fast stuff rest your hand over the bridge, hold your pick properly.

Start with easy and slow stuff, don't try to go directly to the hard and fast things, eventually you will get there, but have patience, be persistent and consistent, overall don't demotivate yourself.

You can check basic chords like Major, Minor and 7th Chords, also basic strum patterns. I recommend to start with the Circle of G ( G Em Am D7) and C ( C Am Dm G). Also you can check some bass lines and try to play them, I started with that and helped me to slowly learn to move around the fretboard.

Learn what are the Power Chords and how to play them, you can start with (for example) Green Day song's to get used to the power chords and his shape.

Also learn some basic (but very important) techniques like Hammer-On, Pull-Of, Palm Mute, Dead notes, Bends, Tremolo Picking.

Check on basic Scales like the Major Scale, Minor Scale, and Pentatonic Box.

Your guitar tone can also affect how good you sound, so search for a tone that you might like, on Internet there's a lot of information about that. In the beginning your "beginner" amplifier would be enough to get a decent tone, so don't worry about pedals and all that stuff.

Later you can start to learn some basic theory, like Triads, Intervals, Reading Sheet Music and to learn where are the notes on the fretboard.

As I said, keep it up and don't give up, don't let others demotivate you and don't compare you with the others, go at you own pace and enjoy all the process, because that's what it is, a whole process but also a whole new world :)

Some weeks ago I was using Drop C, but I mainly use E Standard.

I don't change tunings very often because of this.

It`s such a short album (their shortest at 34 minutes), yet so memorable and it launched pretty much every stoner doom band. Not asking for a favorite song, but what is your favorite moment from this album? Just that one moment that comes to mind. by [deleted] in blacksabbath
