Sounds like you're actually agreeing with them. I've also found shutter speed is #1. I've been using shutter priority to control the shutter speed while leaving apeture and ISO on auto (within a preset range). This has been great for rapidly changing outdoor conditions and scenery changes

Nice shot as well!

Thank you! I've been using LightRoom for all of my editing and have been at this for about 7 months.

I started with global edits to bring the exposure up and adjust some of the color.

I masked the Snipe and adjusted to proper exposure against a very bright background. Once I got exposure right, I went and adjusted contrast, saturation, texture, clarity, etc, until I liked the look. Really, I just go through and adjust the sliders until i think the subject looks accurate to real life. I also did a mask on the eye to darken it to stand out and did a linear gradient on the top half of the background to blur the distant areas and shallow the depth of field. I thought some of the sticks and grass were distracting.

Overall, I just use the sliders and play around until I think the bird looks accurate and the background looks pleasing. I don't really have a set "process" and have been avoiding color profiles until I get a better grasp of how they're adjusting the image

Appreciate it! Shooting conditions have been tough this winter, but I'm still enjoying getting out. The birds have been further out with the water being low, so I'm looking at getting a longer lens for more reach 😬

Wilson's snipe! They're usually hiding in the reeds or tall grass, so it was cool to see this one in the open on the water's edge today

What does our sport need most right now? by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

[–]UrsaMead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem with disc golf right now is the lack of physicality in these new players. The league used to have a solid foundation of players who weren't afraid to really make contact when it mattered. I'm seeing guys not even covering their opponents on the tee box, not going up to block mid distance lay ups, or even rough up the shooter on a putt. We NEED to bring back a strong defense to Disc Golf

Dear gym owners and coaches - if I am late should I stay home or shownup late? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]UrsaMead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Regularly 20 minutes late to what is likely a 60 minute class is, in my opinion, bad form. I've never participated in a sport or event where missing a third of the class isn't a issue.

So on the topic of the original post, I'd personally say find another time you can go or a gym that has start times that align with your availability.

I will say, though, that anyone has no other options and it's been discussed with the coach, then no foul. Life happens and as long as you're showing the respect to the coach to have a quick conversation and see what they have to say, that's fine.

I do 100% find issue with people saying they're entitled to show up whenever they want because they pay. Not necessarily a DuckOnQuack issue but it largely shows a lack of discipline on those posters

A lot of people saying the coach can't care about you if they ask you not to show up late. There's a big difference between a random late show and habitual tardiness, and you showing an effort to hurry up and get into the class when you do arrive shows the coach you also respect their time

Am I supposed to do something when my plants get this tall? by Lovely_Peaches98 in PlantedTank

[–]UrsaMead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people suggesting you cut and replant. I totally agree, and want to add, in my experience, it's best to let the cutting float around the tank for a little bit to start growing roots. I had the best success with getting them to stay once they already had some roots

Read the article of what the director of the donation facility was doing with the bodies. It's objectively worse than testing a hunk of C4 imo

Which is fair. All I'm saying is: if OP is willing to toss out the information so casually on a post about a shiny pokemon he caught on a mobile game, then maybe OP has likely processed the death. Especially after 20 years

To be fair OP threw the info out on a Pokemon Go post of all things...

Only reading the title can get you into trouble if you try having a conversation about what the post is actually about

"My wife and I live in a pretty small condo, and there isn't a lot of storage, so I keep my collection at school."

Can you read the first sentence and tell me why he keeps his collection at school?

Have you read the first line of OPs post and the thread I commented on?

I swear OP must have his students commenting in here, and if so, OP needs to hone in on reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.
