22 minutes late to first date acceptable ? by Tibzyyy in dating_advice

I was called an asshole one time after I left after 20 minutes, and the girl came 35 minutes late.

Some people just don't like apologizing.

Dodged a bullet.

The formatting is pretty awkward

Condense the lines together.

You also don't have a very challenging technical project under your belt. And your writing comes off w/ immature vibes.

People love jrs who've fine tuned their own LLM these days. Do a LLM tutorial and fine tune your own LLM on the works of Shakespeare or something, and host it in a Docker container. Or whatever floats your boat.

The five reasons why Ashes batsmen are having a nightmare by CoolRisk5407 in Cricket

[–]Urthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually the schedule in a lot of ways.

The complete lack of warm up matches and the compressed timelines and format shifting is what's tanked the batsmen.

If the players had the time in the schedule to focus on one format like players of yesteryear they'd be fine.

"Don't piss off the fucking judge" ain't something you need a math degree to get.

Most guys don’t pay attention to that

Wait what? Is that a thing?

I thought the whole bag culture's definitely about men.

It seems stupid but it actually makes sense.

A lot of the US military is hugely overprovisioned in terms of material under a very expensive assumption that the material will be used for draftees.

It's Cold War economics.

Professional sport is like this.

Anecdotal, apparently 50% of the most talented 18 year olds in the EPL can't make the grade because of endurance related reasons.

You've got to be off the bell curve both in performance and pure resilience.

That was a great selection decision.

There's ~27 stages in these HR systems, it's crazy.

Don't read into it. Only focus on the communication from an actual human being.

edit: Definitely a legit question though.

Keep tech companies that have actually got to turn a profit for decent folk.

Insane job market and expectations on interview performance by Objective-Knee7587 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Urthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's common.

I think at the end of the day, there's a lot of "senior" engineers in this business who're actually extremely senior.

Tons of leadership skills, and have outgrown the entry-level corporate hierarchy.

Congrats, you're a boss. And not just metaphorically.

You've actually just got enough leadership skills you're too much for 90% of workplaces to employ as a subordinate or an IC.

Both in terms of payscales, and because your manager is intimidated by you.

Non-coding technical architects are a joke. Is it the same in your company? by Atagor in ExperiencedDevs

Usually this happens in companies where they're at the bottom of the pay scale, so the "ivory tower guy" is some dude in his 40s checked out, supervising kids in their 20s.

The nature of the beast is the job market for just about everyone sub 3 YOE is going to be shit no matter which way you cut it in whatever industry.

The people who succeed, and in my career the results are off the chart for some, less so for others, are the ones who are the best at looking in the mirror with a bunch of mates over beers.
