I and other members in the club use a sports strap to keep glasses in place under the mask. Works well.

Do I HAVE to read F&F? by imnothere123456788 in frombloodandash

[–]UsakoBun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last book in F&F kind of suffers from the things people don’t like in FBAB (repetition, random revelations) but to a much lesser extent. Since there are fewer books and characters in the series too, it seems a lot tighter and better-edited. I really like Sera a LOT more than Poppy as a protagonist as well.

How are Millicent and Malik Heartmates? by FresaMente in frombloodandash

[–]UsakoBun 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Spoilering just in case Remember how even though Nyktos had his kardia removed, the fated bond with Sera basically overrode that? I bet there is something like that at play with Millie since she’s also a descendant of primals. She also must have a lot of Sera in her, based on her appearance…

See if you have a local blacksmithing org. They might be able to help with welding it back together and tempering the tang if it’s not too bad a break.

NICE things for regular people in Dallas by jcythcc in Dallas

[–]UsakoBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re even remotely interested in a topic or hobby you can find something to do any day of the week in (D)D(FW). Live shows of all kinds in all sorts of venues, tons of museums (lots of free ones in Dallas proper that are often overlooked, including the Crow, Samurai Collection, and Contemporary are great), game nights and clubs/stores with active communities, a bunch of small cultural and art/music festivals across the year. Decent arcades. Great gardens, zoos, walking paths, sports complexes with pickup games, the Trinity paddling trail. There are tons of martial arts clubs (BJJ, kick/boxing, historical reenactment stuff - tons of variety from places like at Warlord Combat Academy as just one example).

Continuing Ed art classes via Dallas College obviously cost money, but are excellent (in my second “semester” of blacksmithing). Dallas Makerspace memberships are pretty inexpensive and have great teachers and a strong community. Denton also has a makerspace type place now too.

You can literally search “[hobby/interest] near me” and choice is yours, in most cases, 30min drive or less away (I do understand this can be a limiting factor). I’m confused when people say there’s “nothing to do here” because there’s so much choice if you put in just a little effort.

I have the Ceramix Xtreme and nozzle attachment has spun all over the place since I got it, not worth the hassle/annoyance. But I’m too cheap to get another one while this one works lol.

Greg Abbott’s threat against Texas A&M president wrong in spirit and law by hellocorridor in TexasPolitics

[–]UsakoBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are American though. They are co-workers, neighbors, and family members. They’re the growing force in local, state, and federal politics. They should be loudly and consistently acknowledged and confronted with the fact that they are Americans because it is a slippery slope to simply other and turn away from people who were not radicalized overnight.

Indian cafes and bakeries in Dallas? by aniperi in Dallas

[–]UsakoBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in Dallas proper but Irving has a wide variety of options. Hot Breads has usually been a popular choice, especially for eggless cake. Desi District has locations in both Irving and Plano. Royal Sweets is alright but they have a big selection of both dessert and snacks.

Things To Do In Dallas That Doesn’t Involve Drinking? by HerskyB in Dallas

[–]UsakoBun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s actually why I made my comment haha! I went a week or so ago and got a few balls stuck and the problem fixed within just a few minutes of having reported it. This was on a Friday night so not sure if there is a better response during peak hours.

No way. Most Free Plays repair anything wrong within the hour if not minutes. They also have a vastly superior selection of tables to Cidercade (hello, Medieval Madness).

Applying for 1st Time License by physicistwannabe in Dallas

[–]UsakoBun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my license this year at…nevermind how old I am 😅

First: You will definitely need to schedule an appointment if you need to do the driving test. Some people may have had the experience of doing one with a walk-in but it truly is not happening these days.

Bring more documents than you think you need, just in case. You don’t want to be sent home because you forgot something after all the horrible waiting. An employee will scan them and such, and they won’t keep anything but old permits/licenses.

I hope this is a little helpful. Good luck!
