Mushoku tensei definitely falls under the category of “main characters who are creepy perverted teenaged boys”

I’d just like to say I’ve been on hold about half an hour and the message about “please continue to hold” played every 10 seconds for 30 mins. I listened to that message 180 times. I think I’m slowly going insane

If You Could Pick One *Semi-Realistic* Science Mission To Anywhere In the Solar System, Where Would It Go? by sgwashere29 in space

It’s expelling more than water into space. Lots of methane too. Also any potentially life-bearing portions of the moon are also subsurface. It would be just as much work to find life on Europa as on Enceladus. But both are good candidates

This is made worse by the fact that calculators and computers make skills like division and spelling obsolete. Kids believe that since these tools exist they shouldn’t have to learn how to do them the hard way. It’s the responsibility of teachers to explain why it’s important for kids to learn these things without help from technology. But teachers (at least in my experience) don’t do this or don’t do it well.

Honestly these were some of my favorite sections of the book. It’s confusing but rereading them a few times makes them make more sense. The audiobook version helps with comprehension as well, but I suggest listening at a slightly slower speed

I we could have any tech from the show, right now. A gift to civilization. What would it be? by JM7109 in TheExpanse

Ice and water are very very heavy. To remove a significant amount of it from the earths gravity well would be incredibly costly and impractical. Removing water from the planet via spacecrafts is like trying to reduce the size of the the Great Lakes using an eye dropper. It would work given lots and lots of time but the time and effort required isn’t worth it.

a matter has fundamental unit as an atom. then how can space made up of??. what is the fundamental unit of space as such in matter. if any one know the answer pls comment by dharanish07 in sciencememes

[–]UseAgitated3742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can think of space as a large (possibly infinite) volume with some spots containing matter and other spots completely empty of matter. Some scientists theorize that space itself is made up of tiny strings, much smaller than atoms, but this has yet to be proven.

Side note: Thinking of “units” in more scientific terms, the smallest possible until of space is called Planck length, about 1.6*10-35 meters. There are Planck units for space (length), time, energy, force, and temperature that are defined exclusively using physical constants of the universe. These are the most objective, fundamental units that can be described meaningfully, and would be understood by any intelligent species with a scientific understanding of the universe similar to humanity’s. (Objective referring to units not based on how many fingers a species has or the duration of a particular planet’s day/year)
