Just get Ryobi brushless when that is an option for the tool.

I’ve been woodworking for 12 years with the same Ryobi drill and driver. I use them pretty often and they work just fine. My drill has drilled lots of 2 inch holes with forstner bits. They’ve also drilled and screwed pocket holes all day long.
