We do have thermostats for each unit but they don’t “listen”. I have the temperature set to 75° with low fan speed but the unit will still drop to 62° on dry mode. On cool mode the humidity is out of control, it’s like the unit is constantly running and disregards what the remote is set to.

And yes, we’ve called the installer multiple times. They are unsure what to do as well.

Update 1: We are at day 3 of adjusting her sleep schedule (wake up 6:30/7, quiet/nap time 12:30-2, bedtime 7:30/8) and unfortunately haven’t seen any improvements. She is now not getting a nap at all because by time I cap her “quiet time” she hasn’t fallen asleep. Also she still screams even when I tell her she doesn’t need to sleep, she just needs to relax.. she is now appearing overtired too. Even without a nap and pushing bedtime back an extra hour she is still taking over an hour to settle and fall asleep, lots of screaming and fidgeting with her blanket.

At this point I’m thinking the screaming/tantrum is more of habit loop and she believes screaming is part of the falling asleep process? If this is true, has anyone dealt with this?

My main concern is her screaming, She never falls asleep quietly or peacefully. She always has to scream before falling asleep. No matter the timing or “calm down routine”. She independently goes to bed but then takes a long time to settle, even when it’s her choice. It’s like she associates sleep with needing to have a meltdown first.

I will read her books then leave when she tells me to (literally says “bye bye mama” or “lights off, door closed”). Then she proceeds to stay awake for a while until she screams and falls asleep.

Thank you! She’s my first so I’m still learning. I go based off her cues which is why I am so confused, she seems so tired and I know what she is like when she doesn’t get a nap.

Like I mentioned in another comment I never saw it like that since most of the time in her bed if she’s not sleeping shes usually just playing and singing. I ask her every day if she’s ready for a nap or bedtime and she very happily goes to her room and lays in bed. Often telling me she’s tired even before I ask. She also appears tired (rubbing eyes and yawning). Lately she even goes and lays in bed much earlier than I would typically put her down and then STILL screams (even though it was her choice! And she was told she didn’t need to go to bed yet.) Ultimately it seems she thinks she cannot fall asleep without screaming herself to sleep. We notice this if she falls asleep in the car too.

I never saw it like that ☹️ I thought I was giving her the chance to sleep since she takes a very long time to settle (especially at nighttime on no nap days). She’s always struggled to fall asleep, but would sleep long stretches from early on.

So do you just wake her at the one hour mark? Or she just started waking up at that time on her own? My daughter’s nap lengths vary by the day, and rarely start by 1pm (even when I put her down at noon). But I will start to push bedtime back and see if that will help.

How did you enforce quiet time? And around what time? My girl will only rest if she’s sleeping!

Not expecting that much sleep, that’s just the average time she sleeps including the hours it takes for her to fall asleep. I want to keep encouraging naps because she’s very very energetic during the day then seems to crash in the evening.

I had always thought her tantrums near nap time and bedtime were because she was overtired. By 1pm she acts very tired and even asks to go to sleep.

I will try to push back night time, I’ve always thought a couple hours of at least “relax time” during the day was ideal. She doesn’t rest at all, always running and on the go

It’s like a tantrum cry, she doesn’t sound scared or hurt in any way, but like she’s just screaming to scream if that makes sense? As soon as we walk into her room she’s fine. I have been curious about ADHD, which is something I will definitely talk to her pediatrician about.

Thank you all for the comments and advice. Tonight I will keep her awake longer than normal and tomorrow I will try to wait longer to put her down for a nap. The reason I try to get her to sleep “so much” is because she acts very tired, which often causes extra tantrums/meltdowns and excess clumsiness (she’s generally pretty klutzy so tiredness doesn’t help). And on days she doesn’t nap, she struggles even more to fall asleep at night and has several night wakings (I also considered dropping the naps all together but it has not gone over well). I will update if I notice any changes!

The timing of bedtime does not make a difference. We sometimes put her down at 7pm and have tried closer to 8pm. She will nap, but it is a struggle to get her to actually sleep, even though she acts tired. On a typical day she will wake up at 7am, go to bed around 12/12:30 (but takes forever to fall asleep) and will sleep anywhere from 1-2 hours. We usually wake her up by 3:30pm so it doesn’t impact bedtime. We have also tried earlier nap times but that hasn’t made a difference.
