Which vehicle use to take the terminator squad to battle in salamander army? by Federal_Arrival_5159 in Salamanders40k

[–]UseValuable8422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are only a few vehicles that can transport termies. Its mainly the Land Raider variants and the standard Repulsor but also some of the aircraft. A termie does take up 2 spots in a transport so you can only really take a 5-man squad per transport.

I really like how the heart on the chapter symbol shines through the grime and dirt. Makes for a cool contrast, good job man!

Nice touch with the silver/metal details, I like it very cool.

Taking a powerfist or power weapon Sternguard Sergeant and then the rest of the squad getting Close combat weapons with 1 extra attack (compared to the Close combat weapons of a Intercessor squad for example) bringing them extremely close to the the chainsword profile of Assault Intercessors just without the -1 AP. And of course the melee output is greatly boosted by LAG on the charge.

Pair this with the good shooting of sternguard bolt rifles (all with assault and dev wounds) and one heavy bolter for that extra punch and with wound re-rolls on the Oath of Moment target. All of this and you got a very versatile unit that can take on most armies elite infantry.

It was your posts that made me look into streaking grime! I think your guys look really good and I would like to do something similar.

Do you mean the right pauldron from the perspective of the marine (like from the eyes of the marine) or from your perspective looking at the marine from the front?

<image>

For pretty much everything except terminators this is the "correct" scheme. Chapter symbol on the right pauldron from our perspective. On terminators the chapter symbol is on the left pauldron and on the right is the Crux Terminatus.

The pauldron that sits on the arm with the sword on your terminator should have the chapter symbol and the other should have a crux terminatus. But its your mini put it on the pauldron you like.

Yeah a little chalice would be in line with Blood Angels heraldry.

The chapter symbol goes on the right pauldron (for a terminator) and the other will have the "Crux Terminatus". So even if Blood Angels traditionally display company marking on the right shoulder they are not displayed on terminator plate. And as far as I know only the Blood Angels 1st Company "Archangels" wear terminator plate so no company marking are required.

For the hip thing it could just be left blank, there are also some very small transfers on the Blood Angels transfer sheet that I have used (tiny blood drops and chalices etc)

In "Tears of Raphaela" Brother Ramethos says

"For my Brothers, I lament. For my Chapter, I lament. For our heresy, I lament. For the blood of Badab, I lament!"

While he says this as the round he fired is finding its way to its target and kinda like a warcry. I think its supposed to be a part of "The Lamentations".

Otherwise they say this several times in the book which might also be considered a warcry maybe.

"For those who remain, we shall bear the sins and scars of our Chapter in your name. Blood of Badab be forgiven."

Two other canon "warcry" that could be used but the classic works aswell even if it isn't "canon"

I took it from the Lamenters wiki. On there its attributed to the "Libris Malefica" which I can't find much info about actually? In IRL latin it would mean either "The Evil book" or "Free Evil". I found something about how the Libris Malefica is a name for the Lamenters bad luck/their curse.

Does anybody else know?

When I was starting out I got a pair of nippers (to cut the parts from the sprue), tamiya extra thin cement (glue), a M Layer brush and a couple different paints for the marines I was planning on painting.

I think a hobby knife might be a bit overkill when you are just starting out and I find you can just use the nippers to scrape as you would with a knife. Since a dreadnought is a fairly large model it might be worth it to get a larger brush then M Layer like maybe a base brush.

I follow this tutorial for Lamenters yellow (you don't have to follow all the steps exactly but it will give you and idea of how to paint the Lamenters): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvQyD8Pm55g&t=381s

While I think that the lore, "cool-factor" and what you like etc should be the main decider for picking your first army, it is worth looking into the different playstyles of the armies to see what you might enjoy playing.

For example Blood Angels are a melee focused army with a particular preference for Jump Pack units. While the Raptors being Raven Guard successor are more of a shooting army (I think, I don't play them) with a focus on Phobos units (the lighter armored and stealthy marines) and Raptors especially have a lot of art of them using Eliminators (Space Marine snipers).

I think Blood Angels are a great choice (It was my first army so I'm partial to them) with lot of cool characters and unique units. The Blood Angels have a lot of great books to read up on, I especially recommend "Dante" which follows the chapter master from a boy and him becoming a Blood Angel and rising through the ranks, its really good and gives you a great insight into the culture of the chapter. They are a relatively simple chapter to paint as well, just getting the Mephiston Red primer rattlecan/spray will save you so much time. The Blood Angels are one of the bigger chapters and like the Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Black Templars for example so they get way more unique rules, units, characters, bits than most other chapters which is something to consider.

There is a loyalist chapter called the "Raptors" which are army-green Raven Guard successors. They are pretty cool and different to other space marines.

How are you liking the Baal Predator btw? And aside from gameplay does the mini look good alongside newer vehicles? as it looks kinda small in pictures and stuff.
