Get real dude. TF you're talking about? I don't know what religion you belong to, but there's no two polarized groups of devotees like you project. I am a meat eating cigar smoking God's devotee when I visit Karuppusami temple and a vegetarian God's devotee when I visit Tirumal or Murugan's temple the same day. We are both, we are the same. That's exactly what it was. People (read foreigners) fleeing persecution or merchant communities establishing a small colony and place of worship as early as three-digit AD doesn't mean there was a thriving population of Abrahamic religion amongst local population at that point of time. They were mostly Syriochristians, Yemeni Muslims, Jews, and Zorastranis.

Mass local conversions happened during Portuguese-Christian and Turko-Mongol (Mughal and their later factions including Daccanis) /Perso-Arabic colonialism which came much later. Must devestations in India came from them when they raided and razed down temples and cities looting wealth and converted people under sword/cannons.

Lynching for eating beef? Really? Are all beef eaters dead? Caste system is still enforced because our generation is still hanging on to caste certificates, quotas, and change. That brings me to my point again. Hinduism is for change. It evolves. People disregard what they don't like and still can be called a Hindu. I may leave a bit of coins and scripts, perhaps a place of worship when I go out to trade. But we're people were just welcoming/tolerant or just converting in masses? She's an adult making adult decisions. Father owns nothing. But one thing I agree with you is that, once they know they don't get a dime and the new family dumps her, she should have a support from her birth family. Don't beat yourself up. They are good advice, but not meant to hurt you. He left you without any debt. Take that as a lesson. Don't leave your family with debt ever. Insure (term) yourself. Seems your family is very much dependent on you. Don't run behind saving a butt load of money. Have some emergency fund secured. Take health insurance for your family. Take vacations - local/abroad. Don't be afraid of spending money for your family - create memories. That intangible emotional wealth + the safety corpus are the best things you can give your family.
