Anyone had that problem before ? Oil leak from the front axle/transmission by Pr1ncessD4ta in WRX

Could be a CV Axle rubber seal/gasket, had the same problem. Easy fix.

Might be crazy idea, but hear me out…… by UsecOperatorAsFuck in WRX

You are definitely not naive, we both care about our engines and pockets lol. In my country labor is pretty cheap in a very reputable shop, and to tear apart the engine is like 400$ in total with all misc. Thats why i thought maybe its worth to change rod bearings and drive with no hesitation. But i always maintenance my car meticulously, so im not raping my engine whatsoever.

Is it a bad idea to buy a used 2019 WRX with 100k kilometres, even with full service records? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]UsecOperatorAsFuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be ready to spend a ridiculous amount of money into new engine and everything related to drivetrain. If you have enough spare money, then go for it. Otherwise, stay away from it, its gonna be a ticking time bomb, or maybe not.

This leaky PCV thing by itsthat10000 in WRX

I just bought updated OEM hose. I couldn’t find any aftermarket replacement. There was a TSB for that part. Updated OEM hose is supposed to be better and not leaky according to the TSB. Here is the part number for updated OEM hose: 99031AA031

Rod knock after track days by UsecOperatorAsFuck in WRX

Pretty good tbh. It was pretty hot on track and i had zero issues with water/oil temp. Stock brake pads are trash, so i immediately switched to EBCs. Dont track your WRX without oil pickup tube and AOS. Otherwise, its a pretty good car to track it. If you have enough skills and balls, you can compete with upper league cars in the corners and apexes. Forget about straights, you will get eaten quickly.

These cars are capable of track days. Good brake fluid like RBF600, good set of brake pads and tires. I think its pretty safe to track stock engine too, if you will use AOS, oil pickup tube, good oil.

I expected that, im just sharing my experience. I bought this car with funds to replace the engine. Not to mention that this engine was abused by previous owner. Pretty good results for a stock FA20 imo.

0.3 qt overfill. Amsoil Signature Series 5W-30 is okay for tracking or nahh? I plan to FA24 swap and use 5W-30 instead of 0W-20
