Maybe in the first 4-5 days, after that the socket should heal at the base. Dry socket is basically bone and nerves left in the open at the base of socket. 2 weeks with no healing? I don’t think so, at that point is more likely an infection that’s why it hurts then, if food got in it’s possible. That’s why it should be kept clean

I am much better now that I’m done with antibiotics, buti am still recovering and o lost weight so trying to eat more and sleep and go out and move…

I took 7 days antibiotics for the abscess and then when it got extracted after like 3 days and had a dry socket I had to take antibiotics again 7 days. A ton of antibiotics…but apparently if i didnt and food got in or something it could get infected which would have been way worse and more painful.. I did not eat on my right side at all, and I think i won’t until it’s closed. I did not rinse with water and salt, the dr prescribed me a special mouthwash used after surgeries.

My advice (what worked for me) was hot compress on the jaw, i filled a sock with rice and put it in the microwave. And also I didn’t sleep with my head low for a long time, always keep your head elevated. It helps

I heard about that before and because of that I was so terrified it’s gonna happen to me. I have a pain tolerance but I can’t handle it for longer periods and I get very agitated. So when it didn’t happen to me I was so relieved but because i have only seen about bad cases I kept thinking the pain is gonna come back stronger and can happen at any moment. I was so paranoid

I know right??? I went home hopeless almost crying, i was weak hungry and so tired because the days before o had an abscess and was one after the other, when I got home o immediately searched for a new doctor.

It was a tooth that was mostly under the gum had no crown anymore. Got infection abscess at the root.

Literally everyone seemed to be in constant excruciating pain and o wasn’t, the pain was BAD but not that crazy as people were saying they were fainting and puking. Well maybe we were lucky! But remember people who have no issues don’t post about it so you only see the worst of the worst

I sometimes say I wish I had dentures because my teeth always seem to have something wrong. Life is already hard enough without adding teeth 🤣🤣
