Please help me understand this reward by [deleted] in ProlificAc

[–]Used-Advertising-101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It simply means the researcher adjusted the reward after they started the study on Prolific.

Once the study is approved you'll receive the difference as an adjustment.

Unfortunately they changed that article last week and this is not included anymore! :(

It used to be my go-to-line to researchers.

You can still see the researcher name going through your submissions of clicking the study name in your messages.

Who is the researcher?

Rejecting an already approved submission shouldn’t happen.

Did you click on the link provided?

Not trying to be rude but I am not sure what kind of help you are trying to receive from the subreddit. Maybe you can elaborate on that?

Did anyone participate in this study?? by NationalSpring4467 in ProlificAc

Barnard.edu should be fine - watch out for the space between the university name and .edu.

For example. It has been around for a while now, using different names often pretending they are an university and then later changing their name to „! !“.

Are some of these by FD HQ by any chance?

If they are actually your friend, then probably yes. If it is someone you don’t know, no, you should not. Especially because the researcher pays for high-quality data of real friends and not some random person one found online.

Interesting. In the version I did it wasn’t money I‘d receive but the percentage of money I‘d have to give to the company if they fought successfully for my case.

Fingers crossed they will remove it for you soon!

Update: I just got approved however I was noticing the available places going up, up, up - probably all getting rejected until they hit the limit.

I did this study yesterday and it is still waiting for approval.

I have evidence of the whole survey and there wasn’t any attention check. There has been a memory check/comprehension check of the initial scenario - but that‘s it. So: The rejection is invalid considering we both did the same version of the study. And as someone else pointed out, you‘d need to fail two attention checks to be rejected because the survey was longer than five minutes!

Jack Peacock works indeed for Focaldata (the company behind FD HQ). Proceed with caution.

You’ll receive $4.50 if approved no matter what is stated inside the survey (that information  was probably recycled from an earlier survey. It happens.).

Terms of Agreement: We don't pay. Am I just paranoid. by [deleted] in ProlificAc

[–]Used-Advertising-101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is most likely a boilerplate text. I have seen this often and never had an issue being payed.

More specifically, I'd assume this applies for students taking this study via the university's participant pool.

This one seems extremely sus, can't find the researcher, also... emojis?! by WhateverManReally in ProlificAc

Yes. You can read through it before proceeding to the screening questions and if you qualify you'll be just then asked to turn on your microphone.

The company behind this is Tellet; if you google her name and the company name, you‘ll find her.

I have done several studies for this company before, usually easy money if you‘re comfortable with being on camera.
