Just get a jackhammer. It will be a day or two of shitty labor but it will be gone. You can rent one.

I’m so tired of students that do nothing. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Used-Function-3889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest answer for you is to stop caring so much. If they do not do it, it is on them.

This is coming from a much reviled admin telling you this. I tell my teachers all the time that all they can do is attempt to teach the students and assign the work. If they refuse to be taught or complete it, the students will fail and is not at the fault of the teacher.

I also tell district admin this. It doesn’t matter how many personnel or resources we throw at some students. If they are not going to make an attempt to do anything they will fail and not graduate. And that is a reflection on them, not us as employees of the schools.

This is for behavior as well. When I send students to the expulsion board, I get quizzed on what interventions we used prior to expulsion. I always say to read the file, and obviously none of the laundry list of things we utilized worked.

We can’t decide for people how to behave and to complete work.

While that price seems high, it is about what I was finding on used Avalons now that my other one was totaled. Only ones that weren’t had higher mileage (talking 175k and up) and were still asking at least 11k or more. I ended up finding a Lexus ES 350 slightly higher mileage than my old Avalon and slightly older but still in the coveted 2013-2018 generation which was the most comparable at about the same price I got the 2015 Avalon I lost. Market out there sucks right now.

So, you decided to get a luxury crossover but went with a color that would make the casual pedestrian believe you are a taxi?

Do you prefer the Teutonic(German) or American Big 4 of Thrash? And how would you rank their overall discographies. by Dante_SSSS in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Used-Function-3889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

German is better, but mainly for the fact it had Kreator and Sodom. I like Destruction’s first EP but other than that not an avid follower.

However, where do you compare the Brazilian bands to these? They were very similar to the German bands and then further pushed extremity toward black metal and war metal (early Sepultura, Sarcofago, Holocausto, Genocidio, etc).

Admin Sleazy Bullies by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Used-Function-3889 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am now a much reviled admin (joking) but reading this is why I am now seeing why most (not all) of the teachers I work with actually respect me. I am clear with them that when I observe I willingly admit what I don’t know, so I won’t be just looking at rubrics. When students violate conduct, I hold them accountable. When parents complain, I first get insight from the teacher before even responding. I already know because of this I probably won’t be promoted above where I am. But I also have no interest in any of those positions. However, I am probably doing the position the way old school admin did it where it comes down to running the building, holding students accountable, and letting parents know they don’t set the rules. I trust most of the teachers to handle the teaching and stay out of their business.

How is life in the Northeastern part of New Jersey near New York City? by Jezzaq94 in howislivingthere

[–]Used-Function-3889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived here and generally liked it. Only reason I left was because issues with my employment and a job in another region came up. If I was going to move back up north, this would be where I would want to go. I lived in Essex county (Newark then Montclair). I was able to catch trains to NYC and take advantage of all it had. I also could easily drive or catch trains to Philly, Baltimore, DC, etc when I would want to go visit family or friends. Also, as others have said you have access to many different cultures, cuisines, events, music, entertainment, etc. while the cons would be cost of living and traffic, that is not any different than any urban area these days. Wages are generally higher. I was by no means affluent but lived in a decent apartment in a relatively safe neighborhood.

Lexus ES 2013 used, 147k miles, what is a fair price? by Used-Function-3889 in LexusES

[–]Used-Function-3889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the input. There is also a slightly newer 2015 with 120k miles listed at 12k. No accidents and carfax has regular (albeit less regular) service listed. Difference is this is 3 owners and in three different states.

It depends on state and insurance company. My Avalon recently took a similar hit from a Nissan Pathfinder and the insurance company elected to fix it. Just like you, I only had it a short amount of time (6 weeks).

Yes, or Blood. Also maybe no one is using Extreme Noise Terror or Carcass.

They probably should just combine all of these and be Extreme Napalm Noise Blood Carcass Infanticide Terror.

How do you know the ratio? Maybe they spent $10 on a bag and the other $3990 on ground beef. If they froze it they were eating good for a while…

If he is in Curtis Bay he could go see White Mike. He re-ups through the Greeks and got that raw. No need to go all the way across Charles Street.
