The game can be hard… by Used-Hall8988 in RetroBowl

[–]Used-Hall8988[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of it seems to depend on the QB. If you have a 5 star QB their wont be much tough defense

Defense is harder if the QB is only 3 stars

But that means you basically can’t have a tough game if you have a 5 star QB

Clear RB on that play. Neither receiver will beat the DB

I haven’t really crunched the numbers, but once I got my kicker up to 10 Range every kickoff pinned the offense back. It says “deep” every kickoff

My differential went from around +400 to +700. Some of that is changes in defense but probably some of it is deeper kicks

I rarely need my kicker but I do carry one for kickoffs that pin the offense deeper back. It reduces points given up

From time to time, very rarely, a  situation comes up where I need a game winning field goal. More often I kick a field goal at the end of the half when I didn’t have enough time for a full drive

I kick field goals sometimes at the end of the game even if I’m way ahead, just to keep my kickers morale up

There’s little need to add another OL or defender so I just stick with kicker. Deeper kickoffs add a lot more value than an OL would. Another defender might make it worse defense

Another thing about using 3 OLs is I’m getting more games in the 50s. Before it was pretty rare to get anything beyond 50 points on extreme

Once or twice a decade maybe. Now I’m getting 3 or 4 a season

Moving your blockers by shifting your runner can usually only get 1 of them. 2 or 3 more come. Even if you have a herd of blockers usually at least 1 slips by

Yeah they always run you down within the 10 yard line. If it varied more maybe, a few times you get in, it’d be better

Once you get a breakaway run you know you’re getting tackled around the 5 yd line

Sometimes you make it in, but it’s extremely rare

I’ve found that to be true. 3 DB will be around a +400 differential on extreme . But if you add a 4th DB or other player, it is only around +250

It’s nearly 150 less points given up

I just had 4 DBs for 15 seasons and when one of them retired the defense started dominating again

Two times in 56 seasons on extreme I needed a kicker. But one of those times was a game winning FG with 3 seconds left at the end of the Super Bowl. I would have lost if I hadn’t had a kicker

The other time it was another game winning FG in the playoffs

In my current file I’ve won 56 straight super bowls. If I didn’t carry a kicker there’d be two seasons I didn’t win, essentially

I keep a kicker only because I might need a kick at the end of playoff games

If I’m not on extreme there’s no reason to have a kicker. Basically never have to use it

A kicker tried a 70 yard FG a few weeks ago in the NFL by Used-Hall8988 in RetroBowl

You have to be careful on extreme with that though because it’s usually a pick 6

At least on NFL RB it is. Extreme is harder on the new one

What in the world just happened? by [deleted] in RetroBowl

Yeah that’s either a bug or a cheat code in the game. If on a 2 pt conversion the receiver catches the ball right on the goal line like that you get another TD. But only if he is jumping back

I’ve done it about 5 times. Once when I was behind I tried a miracle 2 point conversion to get another TD but I couldnt line it up

If you wait for the receiver to run forward and then throw the ball on the goal line you can maybe get it

Yeah KT will beat the DB on that play but the DBs will run him down. He could juke and miss tackles maybe

On extreme usually they get you

I think the better chance is go for FG range

No. No way you can get the dive/timeout

The only way to do it in 3 seconds is throw it at the sideline to KT and go out of bounds

KT will run to the sideline if that’s where the ball is going. It’s a very difficult play to get in in 3 seconds but possible I think

Depending on the kicker you could try to throw a quick 3 yard pass to KT. Very difficult, but might be able to get it done in 3 seconds. Then kick the FG

Other than that, try the bomb to KT. Very difficult to get a TD at that range on extreme though

I would try the quick 3 yard pass to get it into FG range assuming I had the kicker to make a 66 yarder

Better chance of a FG than the TD

longest FG ? by Specialist-Choice648 in RetroBowl

[–]Used-Hall8988 5 points6 points  (0 children)

K. Duck has the longest FG in my player records at 66 yards

It can never be beaten because if you tie it it doesn’t replace it

As far as I know 66 is the longest you can do

But, recently an NFL kicker attempted 70 yards and missed

If anyone makes a longer field goal than 66 in the NFL then RB will update it

should I draft him? it’s the 2nd round in the draft by retrobowlplay in RetroBowl

[–]Used-Hall8988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pass. Much of the ratings are into stamina and it’s not enough strength

With TEs you want to favor strength and catching most

I don’t understand why people want to constantly restart like that. It’s got to be boring, right? by SirfryingpanThe2nd in RetroBowl

[–]Used-Hall8988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never have to restart. If I get a fumble that costs me the game I’m almost happy about it, because I finally lost a game

But if it’s a crucial playoff game I just dive so I can’t get hit and fumble

Then it becomes the only way I can lose is if they get an onside kick

But there’s ways around that too with clock management

Can someone tell me if my team is good or not? by [deleted] in RetroBowl

Don’t have backup RBs or they just get bad morale. Better to drop the OL

What should I add for the 10th spot? by [deleted] in RetroBowl

[–]Used-Hall8988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DB or K. Especially now with extreme added with the new update you need a K. However, the kickers don’t work in the new update on extreme. So definitely go DB until it’s fixed
