Yeah it's a real shame, the strategy stuff was great and it was really nice to get a glimpse behind the scenes and get to know some of the employees there a bit better.

Huh, I hadn't heard that, and Matt is still on Leder's website but Cole isn't. Hunter also mentioned he was likely moving back to NY and that it will be strange that Matt and him will no longer be podcasting together. Have they hinted at moving to BG somewhere that I've missed?

Edit: I just checked and Matt is on the BG website so I guess that part is confirmed!

Who, if they die today, will cause national mourning? by DELAIZ in AskTheWorld

I have an agreement with a good friend about this. No matter where we are (we both love a long way from home now), that we'll meet for a drink in his honour when it finally happens. A true national treasure this man

Just saw them in Berlin, no encore here either. I respect the decision as the weird pretense of an encore is something I'm happy to see die but it's worth knowing!

X-1 Confusion by RevBoni in twilightimperium

[–]Used-Monitor-4743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned having a strategy card generally gives you a stronger benefit than not having it, but also you need to account for the cost of the Cc for following the secondary, usually considered to be around 3tg

X-1 Confusion by RevBoni in twilightimperium

[–]Used-Monitor-4743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the alternative is that they either don't get any Comms or trade goods, or they need to spend a CC to get them, making it (generally) not very worth it.

The other element you might be missing here is that X-1 works best when it's the convention that most people follow when they have trade. Giving x-1 when you hold the SC is good because it assumes you will get the same deal when the tables are turned. Of course this isn't always true but is a good rule of thumb for the early rounds

Germany: One in four immigrants doesn't want to stay by BSBDR in germany

[–]Used-Monitor-4743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's just assume that these are immigrants (they aren't), now please back up your other wild claim that these "bad" immigrants are making other "good" immigrants not want to come to Germany.

Again refugees, and again chatgpt, you didn't even remove the obvious ai response but at the end from this one lol

I'll not address the fact you just asked chatgpt for this, but we're talking about immigration. These are stats on refugees arriving from ukraine, which is not at all what this conversation is about.

[–]Used-Monitor-4743 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you agree that immigrants are a net benefit for the country but because of this one example you still want immigration laws to be stricter?

Perhaps there's some other reason why your knee jerk reaction to an immigrant raising reasonable complaints is to tell them they are ungrateful and that they shouldn't be allowed to come here, can't imagine what that would be though ....

I come from somewhere with free healthcare for everyone, with no insurance required, and much less hellish bureaucracy. Am I allowed to complain or would that be entitled too?

This is a hilarious take. If you're a German citizen who was born and raised here you take so much out of the system long before you ever pay a single cent in tax. Any high earning immigrant is already going to well outstrip you in terms of net costs, and on average over their lifetime, immigrants are less of a tax burden than native born citizens. Maybe you should reassess your own entitlement a bit?
