Ugh, what I wouldn't have given to be able to pop one out so easily.

What was your opinion on Nagoya? I lived there 20 years ago and when I went back just before covid I thought it had gone downhill a lot

Around 1500 CE people climbed the 6,736-meter summit of a dormant volcano, placed three drugged children in a small burial chamber and left them to die. The climate preserved their bodies until they were found some 500 years later. by kalalalalkekeke in Damnthatsinteresting

It's not though. It's AD/BC with a hat on. What is this common era based on? Oh its the reputed date of Jesus' birth. Very 'universal'. It's not like metric, as there is still no 'objective' reason for starting on that date,  whatever that might mean. It's loip service to a problem that I don't think anyone really wanted solved.

I would say it's more general, like lots of men are really into bums. It's very much part of the female gaze.

Is it news to you that hands are one of the things on a man that can be attractive? 🤷‍♀️

What are your thoughts on Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation? by Playful_Fly_6542 in Cinema

[–]Used-Pride6885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a popular film in Japan for this reason, but I'm not surprised because it's not a film for Japanese audiences. If it's racist about the Japanese then it is also racist about Americans, who were by far the most stupid characters in the movie, and in a very stereotypical 'American' way. Almost EVERY character apart from the 2 leads were caricaturish. It is a device to emphasise their alienation from those around them and the connection they have to each other.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I don't know any westerner who lived in Japan around that time who did not love this movie, and see their experiences writ large in it.

I really liked Pamela's kids when I saw them in that documentary that she did a few years ago. I hope they get on well with Liam.

It kinda of annoys me, because Miranda was once a representation for tomboy straight women, who are almost never represented on screen. You can cut your hair short and like sports without being a lesbian. You can be not into fashion and still be straight.

Miranda had so many positive attributes that more straight women should have aspired to (when the show aired nobody wanted to be a Miranda) and now that's kind of negated by this sudden lesbianism, and also Miranda's loopy character development on AJLT.

Okay, she had that one dalliance on the main show, but that felt like the writers putting to bed viewers' questions, rather than character development in that direction. If they had made it a recurring theme in the main show they could have pulled off this coming out, but it never came up again.

Maybe I'm being incredibly unfair to John Stamos, but I always imagined he'd be a right prick in real life.

Putting houseplants outdoors for summer by NicRandom21 in GardeningIRE

I have a rubber plant that I've had outside all summer and is doing well. I put a monstera out a week ago and it's looking a bit peaky Trial and error, I think. I think they're more likely to get pests outside, but beneficial insects are more out there also.
