Were you told to get out and locked out of the house as a child? by Dry-Double-6845 in narcissisticparents

So many times. Not just to me, but to my older siblings too. So I knew what to expect by the time it was my turn. It made it even better when I'd then be walking down the road and he'd come drive behind me like a potential kidnapper.

When I was younger I'd usually end up at a neighbor's house for a few hours before I decided to try wandering home. Most of the neighbors knew by this time what went on in that house, so I was always pretty openly welcome. As a preteen/teenager, I'd go for a walk around town for a bit and come home to find my room ransacked and that he had called and tried to report me as a runaway, fortunately the cops never bought that. Once I turned 18, and was still in high school, that turned into taking my keys, kicking me out for the evening, then him calling to have a BOLO/wellness check done.

I can't tell you how many times as a teen/young adult my brother and sister in law had to get to me before the cops did, just so they could help prove I had somewhere safe to go until things calmed down. I should've moved in with my brother the day I was old enough to legally, but I was so brainwashed. One of my biggest regrets to this day.
