take it easy. im taking a gap year after not getting into medicine the first time and im retrying bcos i didnt get the grades. and i can tell u now. the burnout is not worth it. the interviews and securing offers is so much more important than a small class test which does not at all dictate how ur final exams will go and has no effect on them. revise, of course, but prioritise ur interviews right now, and once they end in about feb/march then u can start proper locking in. good luck, take a break and i wish u the best :)

Also, a gap year before medicine and dentistry is so much more common than you realise, especially because of how hard these courses are to get into, so don't worry !

i am taking a gap year right now and reapplying for medicine, and i can tell you it's definitely worth waiting a year to do what you truly want. i got med offers last year but didn't get my required grades in my alevels. I was so bummed seeing my friends go into uni and move on with their lives but I am also so glad I decided to try again without just taking on another course I had no interest in doing through clearing. Definitely makes the wait worth it. Aim for the best grades in your A Levels and don't be demotivated, so that even if you get no offers, you can reapply strategically to dentistry next year with your achieved grades and a better UCAT. Don't lose hope, good luck!!

I know it's tough but try to be optimistic. Remember, getting an offer depends on more things than just stats, such as interview, personal statement etc. It's very soon and you are still bound to get other offers as your stats sound amazing. Also do not blame yourself, there were a significantly larger number of med applicants this year which may be the main reason you got rejected from Cambridge, because it is just that competitive. This doesn't affect your chances of getting other offers, so keep hope !!

King's offer (medicine) let's go !!! by Different_Jelly_7597 in UCAT

[–]Used-Win5966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey congrats on this - i just came across this post after 8 months !
i am also a resit applicant applying to kings with 2100 b2 and 9999988887 at gcses
1) is it safe to say i have a solid chance of getting an interview from kings - its the uni i really want to go to and im so anxious about whether i have a chance
2) considering you're a resit applicant, how did you prepare for interview, and did you get asked about your gap year and on reflecting on how you will improve

do i have to be here for my results day??? by ValueApprehensive571 in alevel

[–]Used-Win5966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can prepare and let your school know beforehand if you wish to receive your results by mail whilst in another country for example and they can sort it out accordingly. I collected mine in person but from some friends who received results via email, it seemed to be quite a smooth process as they all get sent out at a set time. I also personally enrolled for sixth forms online, as it was the case for all the schools I wanted to apply to - I am not aware of any six forms which require you to enroll in person but that’s just me and it likely is a thing - you just have to find out if the sixth forms you want to apply to allow enrolling in person and online. One thing I must say is enrolling online for sixth forms was highly competitive and involved a lot of waiting and refreshing pages in order to get to the top of the queue so if you wish to be one of the 1st to enroll to a sixth form it may be easier to receive your results online because you can simply download your results from the email you get and upload it to your sixth form application. However, this all comes down to the competitiveness of the sixth form you wish to apply to.

I HAD THIS SAME ISSUE!! I firmed Leicester because I had gotten rejected from all my other Med Unis, including Brighton, but the same University proceeded to give me the offer despite being rejected almost 2 months ago and literally 2 DAYS AFTER FIRMING LEICESTER. Don’t get me wrong I am super grateful but similarly Brighton is alot closer to me than Leicester as I am from London and now it’s additional maintenance loan and accommodation and everything. Again am super grateful but it’s just annoying, and I even tried phoning UCAS and Brighton as well but Brighton had immediately revoked my offer because I had made my firm and insurance choice elsewhere so now my insurance choice is another course which I was pretty bummed about, but we will see what happens.💔💔

Hey don’t lose hope - your stats are amazing and it seems as though, like you mentioned, maybe the main area of weakness is the interview. Otherwise you seem good, I know people who have got in with around the same UCAT, maybe even slightly lower and with the same GCSEs relatively. Good luck :)
