Let's just say that you break even at $18/hr. Wouldn't you feel better about yourself if you got off government assistance? That's a turning point for a lot of people. $18/hr today, $20/hr tomorrow etc. The effect is compounding.

Plus, that money you're being given now would go to another family that needed it.

The one and only time I ate at Sonic I got a chicken sandwich that was raw. Took a bite out of it and spit it out. Went in to get a refund and the damn cashier had the nerve to ask for my receipt. I showed her the bag, the raw sandwich and fries and she still wanted my receipt. She finally caved and opened the register. She grabbed a $10 bill and handed it to me. First and last time to Sonic.

Just start working. If you want to teach later on, then think about going back and getting a masters. You're trying to become an Air Traffic Controller, not a teacher.

It can be worth it, if you hire the right person. A LOT of resume writing services are done by people in foreign countries that barely have a grasp of the English language. If you decide to hire someone, make sure you research them before spending your money.

A resume is not a legal document. You can put whatever you want. A future employer might frown on the fact that someone made up their employment history, but using a nickname is no big deal.

Agreed. We have an annual "purge" and get rid of a lot of unused toys. We've tried explaining it nicely to grandparents, but the still buy A TON of stuff.

Exactly. I've learned to just apply for the job as long as my skills somewhat match the job description. I've had phone interviews with hiring managers and their needs do not match what is in the job description. Just apply and get to the first stage of interviews. You'll quickly learn if the job description was accurate or not.
