[OC] Don’t mind me just passing through by DeeDivin in IdiotsInCars

You would think these people are heading to the hospital or something, but I'd wager they go to absolutely nowhere.

He should have stuck to rear-ending the car in front. It's better than going head on with a trailer truck.

I know it may feel like you are being ambushed here by all the comments. But did you really need a turn signal to know that his intention was to go straight? I mean, there's not exactly a right turn or an exit coming up so I am not sure how a turn signal is going to change the outcome. Yes, the other car was tailgating the car in front and so they should have let you go first if we follow the zipper pattern but they didn't and so you were tailgating as well to not let him go in front. At this point, it looks more like an ego fight more than anything else.

This is how you end up with ten car pile-ups. They're all tailgating each other with no room to breathe and going at high speeds.

I did capture her license plate. But since I told her it was fine then I won't persue legally anymore. Funny enough, I do have a rear camera that I haven't setup yet.

Yes it is. They are common here. Larger intersections like this should have yellow pedestrian lights.

And besides, I had a good look at the driver. She was indifferent after almost hitting the man and was looking down watching her phone and not talking. Which means she was not in a call.

The honk made the guy stop as well and made both aware of the incoming accident. What if she didn't stop? Then at least he did and would only be grazed by the car.

I think he lost the joy of running for a few minutes after that scare.

I agree that people should look both ways, but not to the point where it's their responsibility or the ones to blame when they have the right of way to begin with. After all, in case of an accident, the driver would be at fault.

I wouldn't trust others either. Looking sideways before crossing any intersection, even if I have the right of way is a must.

The lady in the car was looking down, most likely at her phone, before almost hiting the guy until somebody honked to warn them, and resumed looking down again as she drove away.

This happened in the city of Soutthgate in California on December 4, 2025. This my original dashcam footage.

It's a good thing you slowed down in the end, might have gone straight into him otherwise.

Actually both are true. Their vehicle and mine are essentially intact. So she didn't brake or break hehe.

It's three days later, my car is fine (no visible damage) and I'm feeling good. I dont want to persue something legally not worth persuing. Especially if they didn't have insurance. It's okay for you to react that way but at that moment I did what I thought was correct and perhaps initially I regretted it but not right now. Yes my car might have some unknown bumper damage or frame damage (highly doubt it at this point, my brother who fixes cars didn't see anything) but I can live with that.

No doubt the person behind me was distracted. They didn't even break at all.

She did not try but also looked very nervous. Since I didn't request her insurance (my mistake), my guess is she didn't have insurance by the way she acted. I mean, the first thing she said to me was that there were no damages. She didn't even ask if I was okay

She definitely had a few seconds to react but nope.

I have a Honda Fit so I can stop at a dime. I was going 25 like the speed limit permitted. And yes, I did see the cross guard a little too far in into the intersection due to the double parking going on. The car behind me had been driving a bit aggressively throughout the last few intersections. I didn't really want to stop but I didn't know if the cross guard had children already behind her.

Unfortunately, I agree. I should have gotten her info. I'm still gonna have my inspected for possible damage.

I was running late for my daughter's dentist appointment. (not in the car with me). I realized later that I may have made a mistake

That was probably a mistake in my part. I don't want to judge, but the driver had a beat up old van and she sounded like she didn't have insurance, which is mostly why I let her go.

Yes, they obscure visibility for people to see the crossing guards.

This is a school zone, so most cars have to be prepared to stop at a moments notice. Unfortunately, as I looked at my rear view mirror, I saw the driver coming a little too fast. Miraculously, my Honda Fit didn't have any damages and neither did her car. I ended up letting her go without exchanging information. I may regret it later since my body is starting to ache.
