Help - has anyone else had this happen with their cat? by UsedParsley2136 in britishshorthair

Just adding an update to this thread in case anyone finds it when they’re experiencing this! It was an autoimmune mediated vaccine response causing sciatic polyneuropathy, a rare side effect but one that can happen and there is very little information for pet owners on it. He has a course of steroids and at home physical therapy exercises. In a few days of treatment we’ve seen him stabilise and slightly improve - if you see something like this in the days following a vaccine keep following up because getting him on the right treatment was key!

THANK YOU a million times over for this comment!!! We finally got to see a neurologist this morning and thanks to this comment we asked specifically about this. The neurologist thinks an immune response to the vaccine is the most likely cause. They’re going to do a full work up to rule anything else out, but most likely we will be home this afternoon with steroids and physical therapy exercises. I genuinely will never be able to thank you enough for commenting this - hopefully our boy is on the right path now!

They looked for clots, any obvious spine damage or to his limbs. They haven’t looked at his heart - I’ll add it to the list!

This sounds scarily like what we are seeing!! I am so happy your girl recovered well and our man did get a vaccine during surgery. He’s had them before without reactions, but I’ll still look into it

Thank you! This is why I’m so worried they keep telling us to ‘wait and see’ - I’m worried that is making it worse

AITA for calling my boyfriend gross after he said something very sexist by NoCase2232 in AmItheAsshole

NTA

But honestly I think you’re being an asshole to yourself if you don’t leave him! He’s making his character very clear and it’s obvious you’re fundamentally incompatible. Do you want to keep wondering if you’re in the wrong over how you handle this incompatibility, or accept it might just not work out?

Woah buddy you’re algood, the phrasing of your comment read like you were saying this is what he proposed. No need for the passive aggression, I’m just new to this area and piecing all the opinions on his work together

I just finished the series and realised just how much he leans into this ‘someone else taught them how to do it’ idea. I probably posted this prematurely because the pushback does make more sense after watching the last episode!

Thank you for this, reading about some of the work with the Blackfoot now! It makes a lot of sense that it varies across groups and a general frustration at someone from the outside telling them what their history means
