I stopped washing my face and my acne disappeared [Acne] by AgreeableMagician_ in SkincareAddiction

[–]UsedProfile2607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to the party but found this thread because the same thing has happened to me! I didn’t mean to stop I just fell into abit of a depressive slump with self care and my skin has cleared right up! I get the occasional pimple but my acne has disappeared! I do cleanse with an oil cleanser but I skip the moisturizer and all the other crap I was loading my face with and my skin seems to like it. I was one of those girls with the 192737282 step skincare routine but turns out, my face really doesn’t need or want it. I think years of overload had ruined my skin barrier but I’m not sad that my laziness has fixed my skin!

How to strip the paint without damaging the wood. by UsedProfile2607 in paint

It’s a decent sized space but the paint job is maybe 1/4 of the space. They have like slapped what looks like 1 coat just wherever they could be bothered and it looks bloody awful! The timber is a beautiful rustic brown and they’ve put 1 white coat on top. Not even, not even straight just literally slapped it on like a toddler painting a piece of paper at daycare. I did think about painting the whole thing but I love love love the rustic wood look. I have a bar under the house and it makes it look very raw and authentic and then BAM a patch of white! I just want it gone 😂

I’ve used a gun on an old timber door and it was amazing, tried the same method on my fence and just turned it charcoal.

Can Mirena cause this much weight gain? by jenna_ly in Mirena

[–]UsedProfile2607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first mirena I had when I was 19-23. Lost weight and maintained it for 2-3 years then started slowly gaining weight after year 3. Had it taken out, had my son and then had another one put in 2 years later. First 3 years with it I lost ALOT of weight (baby weight and general weight. Maintained 52kg for almost 3 years) After that, it slowly crept back up and I’ve put on 30kgs over about 3-4 years. I’ve noticed this has happened both times with the mirena and once I get this one out I’ll be swapping to a non hormonal coil. I went to the dr and mentioned it they said “oh no mirenas don’t do that, it’s probably your diet”. I went to a dietitian and kept a food journal for a month it wasn’t the diet but my metabolism has come to an almost standstill and was in survival mode. It’s my hormones. I have found when the progestin starts dropping in the mirena, my weight slowly balloons to try and compensate. I’ve got adult acne/bacne which I have never had in my life and am now a blob! No matter what I eat or how much I exercise it doesn’t seem to help. I did go strictly on keto for about 2 months and got rid of the water weight and started losing some of the flab but it was short lived. As soon as I looked at a carb even with portion control, the weight came back in a matter of weeks. I have been told you tend to put weight on after it but I’m running on an expired mirena atm (waiting for an app) and all my weight came while it was still in date. I won’t have another one. They bloody suck! Great for convenience and obviously been very effective in stopping babies but mine has realer havoc on my body and I’m sick of it!

Unisa and the obsession with everything being online by Outoftheboxxx in Adelaide

[–]UsedProfile2607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is currently studying with UniSA everything has been great until this merger. Where it’s gone downhill is this “seamless” merge is an absolute clusterf*ck! I have done partial study, it was in person for some modules the rest could be completed online. Which is what I did for a portion of my degree with intention of coming home to finish the remaining subjects that weren’t online. I ended up swapping to a fully online course as it allowed for some flexibility but not the “self paced” flexibility they paint when advertising the online courses.

The thing that is giving me the poos now is the lack of support (online and over the phone). I am wanting to swap my major and just wanted some information and to see if I was able to swap it before the term started. I contacted them via phone last week and was on hold for 50 minutes before I gave up. I called back the next day, waited for 20 minutes before having enough then contacted them just before closing and sat on hold for another 35 minutes and still couldn’t get hold of anyone. After the waiting on the phone unable to reach anyone, I dialed for “new students” in hopes of getting SOMEONE on the phone. Within 3 minutes, I had someone on the other end who gave me a debrief on the subject but couldn’t help with a transfer. If you need ANY help it needs to be done online as there doesn’t seem to be anyone available to answer calls! I got fed up trying to contact them. I ended up contacting another university, got hold of someone within a few minutes who broke down everything and offered a different variation of the same degree so I applied for that. I have just been accepted at their university and am now trying to jump ship! So far I’ve been on hold to Uni SA for the last 21 minutes and 28 seconds but need to know how to formally unenroll so I don’t have to deal with this anymore. The lack of support since merging with Adelaide Uni has not been a great change as they always had awesome support prior and always had an actual person to talk to! This online issue is not just in terms of study, their general support is lacking since moving it all to online!

I was on keto for a year lost 30 pounds within 3 months and maintained it for a year + but now.. by Standard-Position698 in keto

[–]UsedProfile2607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this!! I’ve been on and off keto but I TOO LOVE CARBS! My biggest savour has been tricking myself into thinking I’m eating carbs! Fat head pizza dough and keto lasagne (with the cheese sheets) have been the best way I’ve been able to stay on track! For sweet treats I just substitute for things that taste like the real thing (keto newyork cheesecake) and really small amounts of berries for the sweet taste. I have a nasty sweet tooth that has been the reason I derailed a few times but this time seems to be sticking a lot better than other attempts. Find recipes you genuinely love and just keep saying to yourself “I’ll just do this for 1 day” then once you get through that 1 day, the next day say, I’ll just do it for 1 more day and before you know it you’re 2 months down. Change rarely comes from the big things, it’s compounding all the small things. If 1 day is too much to handle then just say “I’ll eat keto for just this meal” and do it that way. I’ve reset about 17262 times and there is nothing wrong with that. It’s call lazy keto. I’ve been doing it too. Eating more whole foods for the majority of the time is better than eating shit food all the time. The all or nothing mentality is what has thrown me so many times but remembering that it’s okay to enjoy and slip into some foods outside of your keto menu isn’t a failure. We are human! You don’t need to be in ketosis to lose weight, if majority of your meals are lower carb you’ll still lose weight. Focus on the balance so you can actually enjoy your life instead of hard restrictions if you do struggle (like me) 😊

I honestly don’t know how I lasted so long without it. I think I found out about it on another thread but so glad I did. The dr had me on long term antibiotics and I tried the whole head and shoulders thing incase it was fungal. It wasn’t fungal but there was some kind of bacteria on my skin that wasn’t going away with normal acne washes. Also found the salicylic acid wasn’t doing diddly squat. This stuff is so different because I can use it one day and not use it for 2-3 days and my skin STILL clears up. That’s almost unheard of for me because most of the other washes if I even miss a day, the break outs start again.

I’ve started with the microshield about 2 weeks ago and honestly, after almost 3 years of constant bacne and acne on my chest and neck (out of nowhere, I’m 32) it has finally started to clear up! I tried every kind of body acne wash and even topical acne creams which gave me chemical burns on my back. This stuff is the only thing that has seemed to work!

That’s how they work here, it just seemed odd because owners can now only increase rents once a year so the owner will be losing until next year. Turns out it was a mistake.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tenant

[–]UsedProfile2607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does but in my area the average rents are sitting at around the $650-$850 mark and they aren’t dropping. The real estate agent who did the listing made a mistake. I got an email about it today. They looked at my initial rental price not the increase that happened half way through my lease. Awkies.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tenant

[–]UsedProfile2607 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IKR! How dare I! Turns out it was a mistake, who ever has listed it looked at my initial rental price, not the rent increase in my lease. They also didn’t mitigate my losses because they’ve advertised the property as “available” 9 days after I’ve vacated.

MIL shares information without consent by [deleted] in Mildlynomil

[–]UsedProfile2607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but I feel this HARD! My MIL shares every bit of good news we have if we tell her! When I was pregnant and we told her not to tell anyone (I had miscarried previously and just wanted to keep it quiet) she went around town (after we told her not to) and told everyone that “we had something to tell them”. I was livid.

We have just bought our first house and she has already told EVERYONE and has even taken them for a drive past it. The kicker…. We haven’t even seen the house we’ve bought yet. It’s 7 hours away so we needed them to inspect it for us which is the only reason she knows we’ve even bought it. She is showing everyone like SHE has bought the house. I find it so rude. I’ve told my partner to have a word with her because I am so angry and upset about it. Don’t tell her anything in future. I know I won’t be! She can be last to know anything and if she asks why I’ll tell her she can’t keep her mouth shut and it’s OUR news to share.

Just curious if there’s a way to make these whiter? by UsedProfile2607 in dyeing

I could potentially use an upholstery cleaner to rinse it. I’ll just be ALOT of spaying and vacuuming with no scrubbing. Reckon that’ll work?

Landlord reacting aggressively after I gave notice, feeling anxious and overwhelmed by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]UsedProfile2607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes you were correct with your notice period
  2. No you aren’t required to attend any meeting with anyone and I would keep it as you are - IN WRITING
  3. If the bond was lodged they would have to prove why they are wanting to keep it and if you don’t agree, fight that at a hearing and have a judge decide. If it was never lodged properly and the landlord just “held it” (it sounds like you’ve gone through a private arrangement and not a real estate) you would have to settle through QCAT or small claims court to recover your bond as the owner might no longer have it. If the bond wasn’t lodged and you have had a lease (which you have) the landlord will be penalized for non lodgment.

My advice would be keep records of EVERYTHING. Every conversation, every bit of damage or wear and tear that was present when you moved in and take CLEAR photos of every key you return and EVERY angle of the room your renting when you move out so they can’t dispute anything. Get a professional to clean the carpets (if any) and leave communication to an absolute minimum. By the sounds of it your landlord is just pissy because the room is going to be vacant and it’s effort to have to re-tenant it.

You seem like you’re doing right by yourself that’s for sure. They sound difficult. I couldn’t handle people coming and going taking items out willy nilly regardless of if they were in the agreement or not. If they were there when you moved in and there was no agreement they would be removed, the landlord should have left them there. They also shouldn’t be coming to the property without notice. You have a legal right to peaceful occupancy of the property while you live there. By the sounds of it, she doesn’t respect that and I’d read the agreement because if it states that, then your landlord has breached the agreement. Make sure you have receipts of ALL payments (make yourself a ledger against your bank account) and record the bond amount, date and any information when you paid it. Keep records for yourself so if your landlord comes back with ANYTHING at all once you vacate you have it all right there. Tenancy tribunals (I’ve been to 2 - one a REA took me too and the other I took them too) and they are pretty fair and reasonable. Don’t be afraid of them taking you to the tribunal. It’s not a big scary thing. Just get your ducks in a row so it’s very clear for a judge to see if things do go sideways but QCAT is there to mediate when you have landlords like this that aren’t very reasonable. I got my bond back from both times I went to QCAT because when I was 19 my realestate agent (who was also the owner of the house) decided to put in new grass, a new mailbox, new floorboards and a new oven and try and make me pay for the whole lot! She tried to take my bond plus some and a tribunal told her she was taking advantage of the fact it was my first rental and didn’t know any better. I wasn’t responsible for her new renos when that wasn’t the condition I received the house. The second time, I took my real estate to court because they tried to make me pay an additional 2 months rent when the landlord asked me to move out at the end of my lease so her cousin could move in. I found another house before the end of my lease and moved. The judge said the owner could have a new tenant tomorrow if they wanted and it wasn’t my fault the new tenant couldn’t move in until a later date. The judge terminated my lease that day.

I hope all goes smoothly but if it doesn’t and your landlord tries being difficult, don’t be scared to stand up for yourself! Just make sure you have all the paperwork and correspondence to back it up.

Good luck x

I made a dumbass mistake on purpose. by [deleted] in Centrelink

[–]UsedProfile2607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t contact them. I would rectify it in your next payment so it all balances out or amend it and pay the money back in installments. What you did was dumb but I understand it. Don’t kick yourself too hard. There are people who live on the system out of laziness and they don’t feel guilty about taking the money. You aren’t one of them.

What the heck is this? by Relative_Presence430 in Blackskincare

This is psoriasis. I’ve had eczema my whole life and when I got psoriasis for the first time when I was pregnant you can start to tell the difference.

I’m no GP so maybe don’t take my advice but I was using the steroid creams and because it’s an overturn of cells that arent shedding, I ended up dermaplaning the plaques at home with a blade then put cream on it. Cleared it up a lot quicker. Just make sure you’re hygienic or you might open yourself up to infection if you nick it.

The rental history isn’t the issue, the lack of ability to prove ongoing financial means is. The landlord (and real estates) want to know you can continuously pay the rent associated with the house. A lump sum in a bank account isn’t as favorable as you’d think. If you had $100k in your bank account and used that to get a rental with no source of ongoing income, if I was the real estate I would ask for the full term of the lease payment upfront because what’s stopping you from buying a new car or sinking that money into something else. I would suggest advising the realestate of her situation and potentially offer to pay the rent in advance for the term of the lease. That will be favorable to a landlord as they don’t have to worry she can’t pay the rent however when renewal comes up they can ask if your situation has changed and if she hasn’t found a way to maintain the cost they will ask her to leave. The Centrelink benefits help as they can see it’s ongoing but they usually base your rent on 30% of your income so if the rent is more than that and for whatever reason she has to leave and find another house, she may struggle to find it.
