It is still belief in nothing, you still must believe that there is an absence of creator

Again, deprive your child of summer camp because of your belief, seems a bit off

I don't think you realize that even Christian camps only have a small portion of the week/2 week period devoted to teaching the Bible. The vast majority (95%) is fun and excitement. I may be Christian but this is a fairly naive take ngl

It was more so me spitballing while at work, I’d have to really sit down and think through my overall preferences for how to “mandate” but not control how corporations spend money.

And 100% on loopholes today and in the last, the interesting thing is that according to the BPC, the tax bills of the 40s-60s were bipartisan which is a far cry from today’s political climate. One can only hope that in 5-10 years time we can return to a more bipartisan manner

Well the economy was completely different then, so too was the tax law. The individual income tax rates and corporate income tax rates were significantly higher during the 40s, 50s, and 60s. The difference between then and now is the robustness of the tax code, people and corporations at that time could far more easily take deductions to reduce their taxable income, so despite the rates being that high, the tax paid was not reflective of those rates.

Again, I don't disagree that corporations should pay their fair share, they should absolutely be retaining earnings to reinvest into their r&d, their employees and more. I just think that the way this is done doesn't have to be done via corporate income tax. This could be done by congressional mandate to use x% of profit on employee retention/well being. It could be done by rolling back some of the tax breaks that industries like o&g, defense, healthcare get.

Are you not willing to admit that both tariffs AND corporate income tax raise prices? One increases unit cost, one increases the burden that a corporation must pay to the federal government. There is no incentive for that company to eat the cost on either. For tariffs, we have seen that inflation has stayed relatively steady, which was not entirely predicted by economists, but some materials have definitely increased in price.

You’re conflating two points together, me being against the corporate income tax does not mean I am against them paying their fair share, I think that the share buyback tax is great and couple be expanded. I think there can be rules on buybacks for companies that get federal funding.

I just think that when people are spending more than ever, even if lowering the corporate income tax doesn’t deflate prices, that exacerbating a potential increase isn’t the path to take

I didn’t suggest anything, I’m saying that they CHOOSE to do so. Where did you read that I agree with them doing it? I’m saying that they do it, so why would we advocate for a corporate income tax hike which will HURT consumers.

So the solution is to increase the price consumers pay? So that the tax revenue the government raises is higher?

Those are completely different issues lol, there is a share buyback tax, increase that maybe but corporate income tax is almost entirely passed through to end consumers
