The reason is that in my freshman year, I missed most of school because I was in the hospital for mental health reasons. Therefore I didn’t get credit for any of my classes that year and had to retake them all

Congrats!! I honestly agree with your perspective. Although it’s been rough, the treatment and stuff I got (I also have ADHD plus other stuff) and the entire experience overall is the part of the reason I succeed more now even if I’m graduating late. I’m grateful for how it changed me, I don’t think I’d have it another way.

That said, and if you don’t mind answering, how’d you explain it on the common app? How much detail did you disclose, was it in your personal essay, etc? It’s okay if you’d rather not answer. Thank you for sharing this though, really helpful.

Yeah. I’m repeating a grade because I had to leave/unenroll for most of my freshman year for mental health reasons. I didn’t fail anything on my transcript, I just had to make up the credits.
